SEO is something that requires you to have a constant stream of content. Some say that content saturation has become a thing, but all that means is that you need to get creative with the type of things you write about.
Here are 8 SEO Writing tips to prevent topic burnout.
1. Answer What Nobody Else Will
Sometimes the easiest way to prevent topic burnout is to write about an intense topic. Go right to the heart of your industry by answering the controversial questions that nobody else will. It may mean that you have to come down hard on one side of the debate, but this is a good thing.
The more engagement you can get the better. One of my favorite ways to do this is to simply go over to Buzzsumo and type in a topic. From there you can quickly find what are the most shared topics.
2. Get Inspiration From Your General Topics
Sometimes one of the easiest ways to prevent topic burnout is to go into some of your more general content pieces and look at some of the niches and subjects alluded to there. You’ll be amazed at how many articles you can create out of one tiny section.
Just make sure that you can write enough about each topic. You don’t want to write lots of fluff, otherwise your target market will turn away from you.
3. Look to the Future
Why do you have to talk about the here and now?
One of the best SEO writing tips is to look to the future. This is one area people are always interested in. Industry insiders are determined to predict what the future will be like. These are always interesting reads and they’re always interesting to research because there’s no right or wrong answer.
It’s physically impossible to be wrong about something like this because there are no concrete answers, at least not right now.
4. Hand it Over
Sometimes you’re burned out because you’ve been writing for months on end. Everybody needs a break, and the same goes for your target audience. The chances are if you’re feeling burned out after writing about the same things so is your target audience.
Hand over the reins to another writer. See if they have a different perspective that hasn’t been explored before. First of all, it gives your content some much-needed change of pace. And this other writer may even inspire you to write something. Don’t feel as if you have to take on all responsibilities.
5. Try Different Content Types
Alter the format your content. Rather than focusing entirely on blogs, mix things up with some images, infographics, and videos. This can prove useful for social media.
In fact many popular blogs including KISSmetrics, Heartfulness, and Unbounce do this because it sells
6. Get Passionate Again
Burnout can feel like you’re tired of a topic and you never want to write about it again. You have to get passionate again about what you’re writing. This is something that will always shine through in the long-term.
Read about your favorite topics and see how that helps.
7. Let Your Customers Dictate
If you’re all out if ideas, you need to get creative. One way to make your customers feel like they matter is to allow them to dictate what you write about next.
Ask them about some of the things they want to hear about. They may come up with a new perspective you’d never considered.
8. Expand Your Content Net
If you have reached a point where you can’t get excited about anything else, expand your content net. Add some more subjects to your repertoire and keep expanding. Writing about something you’ve never written about before can do a lot for your state of mind.
Now you have these eight tactics in mind, how are you going to stop burning out?
