I would suggest as yours is a niche website, stick to WordPress + WooCommerce. There are several amazing themes at themeforest.net which can be customized to the last detail.

Avijeet Singh Gumber
how is it different from the current crop of competitors existing in your domain?
Avijeet Singh Gumber
am getting mixed reviews for sticking to wordpress.
can you please share a bit of your knowledge on this. it will be very helpful of you.
Pros n Cons of WordPress and Magento. (there has to be good n bad in everything after all)
Jitendra Gursingh
WordPress Pros: lightweight (using the right plugins), easily customizable, lot of experienced developers on wordpress
WordPress Cons: probably not suitable for a very heavy site with lot of graphics and thousands of products which may slow down the site
Magento Pros: Made for e-commerce, lot of e-comm features like coupons etc. built-in natively; ability to handle huge inventory, seo friendly
Magento cons: very very resource hungry, needs highly experienced developers which are difficult to find for Magento; can get quite complex to handle if execution is not handled correctly from the beginning
I hope the above was helpful.

thank you very much Jitendra jee for the detailed insights. however,
i am sorry to say, we are planning to go ahead with Magento because for now what we can see is that its benefits us more.
we are going to be running it on marketplace model with 10-25 vendor to begin with. and we expect to have 100 SKU from start.
hence this the strategy we are aiming for.

Start with whatever makes you go live the fastest. Don’t build for volume. Build to test. The time you save will be needed for marketing your product.
