Many a people dream of starting up, being their own boss and doing something new but only a few are up to chase that passion and actually convert it into a reality.
With that flame of vigour, we, Anuradha Gadre and Sagar Salvi, both graduates of Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute (V.J.T.I), decided to start up with a QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) venture called “Ambretto” (Ambrette means musk seed) back in early 2014.
We’re a bistro that serves niche products like Poutines, Baguette sandwiches,Burgers, Empanadas,Submarine sandwiches, salads and are based out of Shivaji Park,Mumbai. Poutines are a Canadian delicacy with oodles of French fries,cheese,meats and gravy; we’ve twisted that to make a similar version to suit the palate of our regular customer. Almost every person who’s ordered has had a Poutine.

Empanadas are a Mexican,stuffing based sandwich that could be baked or fried.
Baguette sandwiches are made using French baguette bread while submarine sandwiches are in a loaf of your choice.
A burger is a delight when it has egg and crispy bacon!
A burger is double the delight when it has cheese oozing out of a yummy chicken patty!
To add some more zing to our lovely food, we have quirky names for every product on the menu which are based on pop culture, movies and trivia but have an element of food in them.
For eg. Ct Jack Sparrow is so named because there’s “Jack” cheese in the sandwich.
Over the last 15 months that we’ve been in operation for, we’ve come to be known for our eclectic poutines and baguette sandwiches giving us a repeat customer base of 80% every week and atleast 4-5 new customers everyday. The idea that we wanted to create a unique niche before moving forward worked in our favour there. Moreover,we strongly believe in forming and retaining a personal touch with the customer so that they can relate to us better and connect with our purpose.
Being totally new to starting up, we have acquired key skills of hiring and retaining labour (service industry is labour volatile), maintaining product quality, making maximum use of limited resources whilst being bootstrapped, marketing effectively and most importantly,up-selling, over the past several months of this journey.
We’ve managed to overcome that hurdle of putting together all the elements, from turning our concept into a working model to cultivating a customer base,thereby nurturing the flame we started with.
We now aspire to get guidance, raise funding, grow, reach out to as many foodies as possible and spread the love that is “Ambretto”. Moreover,we’d really appreciate all the help from entrepreneurs who’ve been in our footsteps and shared a similar journey.
