Apple has just released a flurry of their apps on the iTunes store and it has SCREWED up the ranks of the other apps :-(((
These Apple apps are dated ’19th September 2012′.
This is what has happened in the India – Top 25 Free Apps ranking:
This has pushed my company – Games2win’s cricket app down to position No. 4 – when it was No.2 just a few hours back.
🙁 🙁 🙁 SNIFF SNIFF. SOB SOB.
Thankfully these Apple apps are NOT games, and hence the Games section remains untouched 🙂
This is the ranking of the Free Games in India:
In the USA, the free apps section is now totally dominated by Apple:
My point is:
– Apple must have some way to let their apps appear in the search bar when people find them, but not compete with their own app developers for rankings..!
– Imagine the fate of the USA app developers who were enjoying an upward momentum on the Free apps section just until the Apple apps arrived.
They have been smothered by Apple’s own apps!
And boy, getting to the Top of the Top Free Apps in the USA is like climbing to the peak of the Everest in December, naked, with a haversack filled with dumbbells on your back 🙁
– Maybe Apple should have an “Apple Apps” section listed or make it part of settings, ‘coz that’s part of the iTunes platform itself?

Although having an apple apps would serve the dual purpose of all their application being in one place, so if someone came to install Find My iPhone, (s)he could also most likely install all of the other Apple apps. And a separate Apple list would also give developers like you some respite!!

Sirs, iOS 6 is out and though some of these apps have been there since iOS5, they are being pimped big time by iOS 6, so everyone upgrading are quick to jump on and add these apps, hence their app store ranking going up… in time they will all even out…
Like “Find my friends” is shit, I don’t why someone would want to use it, when there are hundreds of other alternatives…

Don’t understand why is iTunes U and Podcast as a different app now? But I know that since upgrading to iOS 6 these apps are getting big time visibility.
