It is almost 5-6 decades of my life that were spent to do something meaningful..Not that I have not done the any meaningful things in life!!.
I am a retired nationalized banker, throughout my professional stint I was involved into routine professional life that majority of crowd experience..or I should say Choose to experience/live..I was enterprising but chose not to implement that part of me to fullest of my ability to test and see what potentially was in store. I must admit I did some odd jobs..like try my hand at selling tea powder to local tapris (as they are famous!!). I used to buy different types tea powder from fort market in Mumbai and mix/blend them into what was needed by these road side tapris/chaiwalals or small hotels serving basic snacks, bites etc..It was an experience in itself and fun! I must admit that in reality it did help me earn some profits..haha…but didn’t peruse it…obvious reasons…security, job in hand, fear of success or failure.
In addition when I was young maybe 20-23 years of age or so…I was always fascinated by watches/clocks…Why not? ‘Time is Money’ At that time in early 60’s 70’s there used to be brands like Favre Luba, AK Geneve, Ebel, HMT etc… wish some were available even now..I mean not in market for antiques.
I used to make wall clocks, table alram clocks…and really enjoyed watchmakers job.. I quit to take up secured bank job..
Post retirement I could not sit ideal at home saying seen it all, done it all..let me live on my savings my job is done types.. I started with insurance agency…fairly happy with it…but the thirst is more..:)
I wondered in this new age of digital world, where things are moving at speed of light!..what is it that I could try my hand at? well, me and my son are avid sports fans and have played cricket at school, college, corporate level. I have been a watepolo swimmer for one of the famous swimming club near Mumbai chowpatty My 5 year old grandson is on his way…
My son used to always tell me Sports have so much to offer to human race..it has no barriers, they are used today in the corporate world to teach Leadership, Team work, competitiveness, aim to win, commercial benefits etc…list can go on..we come across some many people who talk and share so much about cricket matches, football, F1, Tennis and all other sports..few months back came across a gentleman at one of the sports club where I take my grandson for swimming coaching who had written an excellent article all by himself on Sachin Tendulkar (we all know him!!) and commercial aspect of cricket on few pieces of paper that he shared with senior citizens group. I see so many parents, kids/children, youngsters, officer goers talk and share things about games they watch, sporting events they participate, articles/newspaper column they follow, websites they track and sneak into during work hours to check updates etc..
All these things captivated me and to what my son keeps telling me about value add/offerings through the concept of ‘Sports’!
with this commonly followed and popular concept of ‘Sports’ I thought of creating a medium/platform that can be used by all sports lovers/fans to be able to do things that they do or may want to do related to Sports.
This is how and why sporttin.com is created to be able to freely share ‘All About Sports’
This time it is not its success of failure that drove me, it not the fear of age that drove me but it was the value it could potentially offer people around the concept of Sports, it was the attempt that I had to make based on my observations for many years. Also some savings that I convinced myself to try it and make my heart believe in what my son keeps telling me above value creation through concept Sports! It is said youngsters should follow their elder generation..rightly so! but the other way round as well has benefits to try!!
The whole journey of creating this platform was exciting where I got lots insights that are totally different than those during my hay days. It was only the time I realized was the best time I did it!!
