Hi TRH people,
I am sure all of us keep thinking some or the other eureka idea. But to bring this idea into implementation, it requires sharing with experts who would help.
So before that, can a business idea be copyrighted ? Would that have a legal standing and prevent a sabotage of the idea?
Opinions welcome from all, as it would be really enlightening.

My 2 cents (and happy to be corrected):
Ideas can’t be copyrighted by themselves but expression of ideas can be copyrighted. So, the document containing your business idea can be protected by copyright but not the idea itself.
For protecting business ideas, instruments like NDA, NoCompete, Confidentiality etc would come into picture

Shahnawaz is absolutely right! Legally, ideas cannot be copyrighted, expressions can.
Also i dont see how keeping a great new business idea to yourself will help you as a start up. First movers advantage in early stage ventures is negligible or non-existent.

I understand the importance of your question. Although it might be impractical to copyright the idea itself, there could be ways to copyright a prototype/model/sample product if you create one. An IP expert would be able to answer this better.
