Can India be made as Clean as Switzerland in 1 yr?

I think it is possible. Just consider for a moment that all we Indians consumed was beer and newspapers. We would already be spotlessly clean. Beer bottles and old newspapers is not littered just because they have significant value. Now imagine if we could put some significant residual value on all manufactured goods consumed in India, they too would be picked up. Putting a deposit on every item consumed would do the job.
I have done a pilot on these lines in IIMB Campus. It worked as we thought. There was no littering, and all the waste generated was segregated at source.
I am now looking to scale this up to the national level by conducting increasingly larger scale pilots. Please provide your inputs and thoughts on this idea. for more Info visit www.cleancredit.in. The mission of our startup is to make India as Clean as Switzerland in 1 yr!

  1. Hmmm. Sounds brilliant except for the government part. I wouldn’t depend on government legislation as there will be too many teat suckers waiting to corrupt the system. Figure out a way to cut out the govt or include it as such a high level of transparency that we can see a babu’s undies if he tries to milk the system and of course the politician naked. 😉 … my 1 cent

  2. True Nayan. I think, most if not all eComm players are myopic, especially the ones that have cropped up in last yr and a half. And you’ll see that the amount of traffic and online sales on these sites is indirectly proportional to level of customer care and post-sale service. More the traffic, more they take the customer for granted. Compare that with a flipkart or amazon – more traffic, more sales, more trust and more word-of-mouth..and even more sales!! But thats too long a haul for these sprinters here.
