Mansoor Shaikh
Hey,
Glad to hear that.
What you could do is that get a course of SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
And then join in some company as a fresher. While the time you are in company, get your hands on all aspect of SEO. Which also give a professional experience and knowledge right from your senior.
Many people I know do course for all digital marketing – This is so wrong.
in Digital Marketing there are many branches like SEO, PPC, SMO, Email Marketing, Affiliate marketing etc.
So going one by one along with professional experience and knowledge really help you in long term.
So first Go for SEO (Search Engine Optimzation) or SMO (Social Media Optimizaton) >> PPC (Pay Per Click) and others.
The reason I am saying to go SEO first because its the basic and must have aspect of digital marketing.

Dear Paddy,
If you are looking for a Digital Marketing Course you don’t have much good options in India, since I strong believe most of the institutes are here to mint money without bothered or concerned about candidate’s development.
Hence if you can afford look at Academy of Art University – USA. Its the best you can get. Amazing course content and one of the best university in US.

Digital Marketing have long way to go, hence it all depends what are you looking at, since you have fields like creative, technology, search, social media etc.

Hey Paddy,
Rather than just join an internet marketing course I’d suggest you set up a website and try to make some money off it along with the course Internet marketing can be simplified into two over arching concepts – traffic generation & conversion optimization. The rest is all details and tactics. Typically the courses taught by institutes will be at least a year out of date and unless you practically start implementing you won’t know whether it actually works or not.
Things you need to know:
Traffic Generation
– SEO – just focus on On-Site and On-Page SEO, off-site SEO or link building has been subsumed into other tactics namely in bound marketing. DO NOT build a business model around organic traffic.
– PPC & Paid Traffic sources
— Google Adwords – listen to Perry Marshall, Certified Knowledge, and a few others like Cardinal Path
— Bing – if you learn Google Adwords, Bing will be easy to handle
— FB Ads – right now FBs ad system is very volatile with new features being rolled out every few weeks. So till you start running your own ads you won’t know if they will succeed. The tactics vary depending on your product, your demographics, and the culture you are targetting. This applies to any kind of advertising btw.
— Other paid sources: Best place to get the skinny on all that is Traffic Evolution.
– Email marketing – email has the highest ROI of any traffic source so typically you would want to focus on this first.
– Content Marketing – content drives search results which you could say is the new SEO
– Social Media Marketing – this works in tandem with content marketing
Conversion Optimization:
– Once you get the people to your site you need to get them to take the “most desired action” (conversion) that align with your business goals. If you are ecommerce then your conversion goal would be purchase, for a blog it would be content consumption, and so on.
You’ll also need a handle on all the tools that are an essential component of marketing – for website analytics Google Analytics is the most popular.
As a marketer your job is essentially to ask these questions:
1. Who is my audience? What are their expectations about my product: pre-sale expectations, purchase cycle expectations, and post-sale expectations.
This question is the hardest to answer correctly as it requires a lot of interaction with your market and understanding their purchase behavior. Typically your first version of the website will suck at this.
2. How are we going to fulfill their expectations?
3. Where does my audience/market hangout?
4. What is the most profitable way to reach them?
5. What is my conversion rate? What is my cost per acquisition? What is my profit per acquisition? Which are my profitable traffic sources? How can I increase the reach through my profitable traffic channels?
If you want to learn internet marketing I’d suggest set up a website and start playing around you’ll learn more in a day than a week’s worth of class theory.

Dear John,
Thanks for such a detailed and informative reply!!
Here is the link of the curriculum I am considering to join :
https://dsim.in/internet-marketing-course-curriculum/
If you have a little time to spare, please see the link and tell me if its good.
Or, just tell me whether joining a full fledged course which covers SEO, Social Media Marketing, web analytics or some specific course like SEO would be beneficial?
I dont know how to set up a website but yes i can make a blog on blogger. Besides, i would be looking for job in digital marketing before starting something of my own.
Please help.

Dont waste your time in doing ‘courses’
The Internet cannot be TAUGHT. It has to be LEARNT.
Start a blog and use Google to start.
Spend 100 days in doing everything on that blog – seo, content, outreach, ads etc etc
Then YOU will be teaching.
I started https://rodinhood.com (NOT THIS SITE) just like that & learnt everything! Check it out!

Dear Alok Sir,
Thanks for responding!!
I will definitely follow your instructions.

Greetings.
Everyone is going to use the internet in coming time and that’s a good news as a Digital Marketer. Yes it might not be booming as much as it expected right now but I feel Digital Marketing is the future. So yes it is beneficial to join a course.
I do not know any such institutes for Digital Marketing in NCR and about DSIM course I have heard that their fees is around 5 lakhs is what I heard (not sure), so if it is that kind of amount I feel it is not worth it cause after they take that sort of money they are bound to give you good placement opportunities. I would really prefer to learn the trends about Digital Marketing without going to universities and rather do internship in Digital Marketing firm and gain experience and learn other trends through open institutes. (This is just my view. You could choose to do anything else you think is good)
Giving you an additional option for where to learn Digital Marketing from, our company Smart Marketing Tribe is a knowledge based platform for Digital Marketing Coaching, Google Certification Training and Consulting. As a expert in Digital Marketing for past 6 years, I have helped people GET TRAINED – GET GOOGLE CERTIFIED – GET PLACED. Placed with a base salary of 12500 and extra commission as a fresher.
Hope I could help.
Thank You
