I had a harrowing experience at the Goregaon store of Durian for a sofa set my brother had bought some 2.5 years back after it broke (it actually caved in)
The store asked for Rs. 4500 as repair charges in spite of the product being under warranty
They advertise “5 years Warranty” throughout their shop (as proof, danglers and POSM used in store and their website screenshot is attached).
The fact of the matter is that they offer only 1 year of Warranty and 4 years of labour availability (but charge for the work the labour puts in) – This is very misleading and we were not informed about this at the time of purchase by the salesman and the Durian staff
Their staff treats consumers who have already made their purchase with absolute disdain and have a “Take it or Leave It” attitude
They have ‘imported’ furniture and consumers tend to buy it thinking that they have a safety net of 5 years in case something happens but the fact of the matter is that the product ‘caved in’ and needed repairs in less than 3 years
They are using ‘5 Years Warranty’ as a sales tactic, whereas it is absolutely untrue and misleading
This post is just for the purpose of letting everyone know – purchase from Durian knowing the risks involved
Has any member had similar issues with Durian or know of anyone who got them sorted out? Will be great to know how they went about it.

Something like that happened with us too … we had brought some “neelkamal” chairs for our home that came with warranty from the shop owner. And after 3 months one of the leg broke out. We went to the shop owner and told about it and he remarked that its our fault and we should sit lightly on a chair and always be careful and conscious. We cant simply put our body weight on it and relax. So, these guys are all the same. Warranty stuff is just to dupe consumers and nothing else in most of the cases.

You should post this on http://www.consumercomplaints.in. I am sure there are others there who are already seeking redressal as you are from Durian…

I had a very nice experience with them here in Bangalore. They replaced by 50K sofa the first day itself when i pointed out a minute, minute tear in it. Just like in most cases, its the attitude of the folks whom we interface with.

Thanks Dhaval. I will take all possible recourses to let as many people know about their misleading tactics

You,I guess, were lucky to have a good experience. Or probably they did it because it was the first day itself. My brush with them tells me only one thing – if they cannot respect their customer, they are just good for nothing and I am never going to purchase anything from Durian
