I’ve been wanting to write about this topic for long, but because of lack of enough information was refraining to do so. Today i saw this amazing video from a TedX where this lady, Sara Lazar,PhD (who is an Associate Researcher at Massachusetts General Hospital and an Instructor in Psychology at Harvard Medical School) speaks about the impact of meditation on our brain. Through a series of experiments and brain scans, she showcases how meditation can change the size of key regions of our brains , allowing us to become better decision makers, leading us to think more logically, empowering us to be more courageous and most importantly, be at more peace with ourselves.
What’s entrepreneurship got to do with meditation some may wonder. In fact, the way i look at it, entrepreneurs are the ones who most need to be connected with themselves and have a calm mind at all times. While a job also has its set of problems and worries, i feel nothing hits as hard as entrepreneurship. Its one journey that’s full of rocky patches and nobody is totally sure at any time as to where it is headed. Meditation, or spirituality at large comes to the rescue at such times and makes the process smoother as one progresses. Now it doesn’t magically make the problems go away (though i would go on to say that a bit of that surprisingly happens too) , but it activates an unknown energy from within which helps one chart their path.
I’ve been meditating on a fairly regular basis for the past one year and have seen some tremendous changes in the way i look at life. Needless to say, it has helped me become calmer and more at ease with whatever is happening at the professional or the personal front.
Here’s the video i mentioned at the beginning. Ho pe some of you can gain from it.
