I have an Business Idea which I believe that will work, but need openions from you guys and your views on the business model if you are in my shoes.
I do explainer videos for startups and companies and charge around Rs.20,000 to Rs.30,000 for a 1 minute explainer (others charge upto $3000 for the same) . But, most of the startups or freelancers can`t afford that price because the reason may be lack of marketing funds or they don`t understand the concept of having an explainer video for their product or may be they wanna go for a cheaper alternative.
By focusing on the last possible reason ” they wanna go for a cheaper alternative”, there is no such solution where the client gets a premium quality explainer video that was personalized to their product/business/startup below the $100 mark.
So, my idea is the same. To offer clients premium quality explainer videos, presonalized to their product and below the $100 mark.
HOW?
My solution is producing some templates for explainer videos. As per my research, most of the explainers follow some patterns, eg. “Lets meet jack… showing his problem, the solution” (for startups) or “Hi my name is josh, im a web designer….” (for freelancers) etc. – THE MASS MARKET
So, by producing templates by adding elements that most of the startups or freelancers tend to have in their videos (if they order from some producers) and offering the template for less than $100 (say $79 like that). To add the cherry to the cake, we render the video with the client`s input and give them a brand new video done only for their product using our templates (Which no one did till now).
WHATS THE CATCH?
The client`s benifits are :
– They get a premium quality explainer
– Below the $100 mark (so no need to fear of money loss etc)
– Can choose from a variety of templates (so they will know how their video is gonna be, before ordering)
– Personalized to their brand ( We take the inputs from client, like text, images etc that were needed for the chosen template, update it , render it and deliver the finished product to the client)
– Client don`t need to go to other developer to get their video updated with their product images, text etc. once they buy the template from us, We do that thing. (This best part)
– Finally, it will be fun! YES it is 🙂

So, what do you guys think about my business idea. Will you guys buy if their is a service like that? are there any loopholes or losses in this idea? Most importantly, will it make business?

Hi Praveen,
Charging 20k-30k is quite a good price for explainer videos. If a start-up cannot afford that, perhaps’ they are going to have a below average video!

Can you please clarify, if this would be a fully DIY (Do-It-Yourself) approach? Or, would someone still need to be in touch with you to explain their requirement etc?
In either case, how much customization would you offer to the standard template? Colors, music, font, animation, duration etc?

Its not a DIY concept. Once the client selects a template from the site, we will ask the client to give their resources (text, images , music of their choice, videos) . Once they client gives us the resource, we will replace them and render the video. The final video is given to the client.
About the customization, we offer the flexiblity in colors, music, fonts and characters (if any). Not in the animation or the duration of the template.

Sounds like a cool idea – I know many startups would want this and you can possibly create a lot of different templates, some even with animated characters.
Also if you can add voiceovers for an additional $20/min fee, many would go for that upsell.
