It was recently announced on LI official blog “LinkedIn Follow Button: Companies, Look Who’s Following You Now”, https://blog.linkedin.com/2012/02/27/linkedin-follow-button-for-companies/ on 27th Feb 2012. This is about the introduction of “Company Follow Button” that organizations can embed on their website apart from buttons for FB and Twitter. The “Follow Company LI Button” can be obtained from https://developer.linkedin.com/plugins/follow-company
Though the feature has been available for quite some time to the users of LI who chanced upon the companies they wanted to follow on Linkedin, the recent announcement from LI is about companies reaching out to LI users from their official websites vide an embedded LI button.
E:g. Starbucks website may sport the “follow us on LI” button for the visitors to its site apart from “follow us on Twitter” & “find us on FB” buttons.
1. What I want to discuss is whether it makes sense for B2C organizations to sport this button on their website since LI ‘s positioning is of a B2B enabler.
2. What sort of information do you think the organizations will push in the news feed of the engaged professional audience on LinkedIn, who are following the organization.
3. What innovations you think LI will introduce to jazz up company pages or allow companies the option to jazz up their LI pages to make them more conducive for LI users to follow.
4. The kind of analytics you would like from LI, post introduction of “follow company button” if you were a LI company page owner.
