Today, I am going to talk about some of the marketing lessons I have learned over a past couple of years. The ideas I am going to discuss are not entirely mine , I have learned it from various marketing experts in the industry. I have tested some of it but there are a lot of them I haven’t tested on my own but saw others doing is successfully.
I am going to put forward three of them in front of you which you will find very useful and you can implement them in your business, coaching/consulting to see immediate results.
As these ideas are tested over the period of time but still there is a possibility that some of them fail, so if you find some ideas are not working for you in your business, you can always try another idea or make modifications in the same idea which suit your business needs.
These ideas you won’t find in any mainstream marketing books, so pay close attention to these ideas.
- Pattern Interrupt
This is widely used in NLP (Neuro-Liguistic Programming). Some of you may have heard of it but most of you haven’t. I am going to explain Pattern Interrupt in detail here.
A pattern interrupt (also sometimes called a confusion technique) is an interruption, often unexpected, in the flow or sequence of activity or thought. The purpose of such an interrupt is to allow for changes from the normal routine of activity and thought processes, to weaken an old strategy or repetitive thought process and to create a space for a new change, possibility or pattern imprinting.
It’s used in the market where prospective customers are used to getting pitched often and over & over again by your competitors, so if you use this your message sticks out like a sore thumb.
I tested it in MBA market, where aspirants are used to getting pitched by various classes, experts often, so they are resistant to it, so I devised the strategy of using Pattern Interrupt in my email marketing campaign.
I used this in my email marketing to a small list of MBA aspirants and told them specifically not to buy from my link
Including headline everything was example of Pattern Interrupt
And this was a call to action
I used it and nabbed quite a few sales. Although amount was not very huge but I got the confidence that it works.
It doesn’t work in all the markets, so if your market is not mature and not used to sales pitch, then this idea can backfire on you.
2. 4 day cash machine
I haven’t used this method personally on my website but I have seen this method extremely well for the products with high profit margin.
e.g. if you are selling e-books, coaching, digital products or anything where profit margin is very huge, this method works like charm.
For this method to work, you need to have a good email list/subscriber base/customer base. Atleast more than 500. If you don’t have good subscriber list, then this method won’t work well.
This works well for the people who have just subscribed for your free updates/free service/free consultation and it will convert them into potential buyers like gangbusters.
Let’s say, you are selling an e-book on How to lose 10 pounds of belly fat in 10 days or less on your blog, so if someone opt-ins for your free email update, then as soon as he/she opt-ins , he/she will be automatically subscribed to your 4 day cash machine offer apart from your normal updates.(Assuming you have something to upsell, downsell as a product or service)
In that offer, he/she will be given chance to buy your book/courses/coaching at half the price plus on the top of that he/she will be offered bonuses to do that. You are going to email him/her every consecutive day for next 4 days, if he/she is targeted buyer, then after seeing such an irresistible offer, he/she will be compelled to buy , and you are also offering a bonus as icing on a cake, it will be almost impossible for him/her to resist it and eventually he/she will be lured to buy ( there is a good conversion ratio if you employ such tactic), the downside of this method is some subscribers/customers may get annoyed and unsubscribe form your list but that’s OK, as you don’t want them anyways.
So this method works if you have good list of subscribers, but what to do if you are just starting out. What to do then?
Read the last thing.
3. Leads on Autopilot
This may not work for every single business but for the business where there is heavy emphasis on content creation, like marketing blog, management blog etc etc. I have used this strategy to create around 1000 leads on autopilot without spending a dime on advertising. I still get average 4-5 leads on autopilot, even I don’t post anything or post anywhere.
I have created this page, it’s called as “Welcome Gate” , if anybody who is not a subscriber on my blog comes to this page
So after seeing such page, if someone comes who is non-targeted audience, he/she might instantly is turned off by this and leaves the page and there is an option provided in the bottom for that
“No Thanks, I appreciate your offer but I would rather go figure out everything myself because I am too smart.”
This title again talks directly talks to his/her ego that he/she is missing something very important, so he/she may go again to email opt-in to put his/her details or may close the website.
This strategy is used by one of the giant email Autoresponder company “Aweber” to sell their list building products to their customers. You can even you can see it on famous website Mixergy which is famous for interviewing Entrepreneurs and selling the interviews.
So now you have some of these tools in your marketing arsenal, you can use them anytime you want and see immediate results like boosting response, increase in sales, and increase in LCV (Lifetime Consumer Value), get more ROI on your marketing spent.
