Franchise Research

Hi All,

We are planning to take a franchise of Event Management firm..before investing Royalty (non refundable) amount of Rs.2Lacs and other extra will go upto 1.25Lac so total Rs.3.25Lacs, i wish to understand how can i do research about responses and business i can create out of it?

ABOUT :

Its a online party website in India including theme parties, party supplies, decorative items and return gifts for parties. They will do advertising at National Level.

My concern is should i publish and check the reverts i would get and then think of going ahead or should i take risk and pay them Royalty fees?

Regards,

Mona

  1. Hi.. Mona … I run Dreamparty.in and we are into same business of party planning .it’s just we are not into party supplies which is core of such companies you are gonna deal with…well ,i think you should first understand why franchise? what is it that you’ll get that can’t be done on your own..as per my experience event industry has barely any entry barriers except your level of knowledge ..secondly the game has just started so there is no brand recall and brand value or recognition …Third nobody can teach you creative stuff ..the only thing that they might help you with is party supplies…

so i don’t think you need to invest this much for that…

P.S. :- I started mine 2 years back with just a domain name and 200 business cards.. and trust me its been exciting journey till now.. and we are not giving/taking franchise 😛

  2. Do you want to share the name of the company here and ask people if they have used their services and if yes, what the experience has been like ?

Ask to speak to some of their existing franchisees to get insights into their experience.

Let’s say you will earn Rs 5k from a party. That’s 65 parties just to recover your investment, so yes, do some more due diligence before you part with your money.

    Cheers 🙂

  3. An event company asking for a Franchise fees???

Sounds like a pure scam to me!

    What is a Franchise?

An ‘extension’ of a DEPENDABLE brand that people are PULLED towards consuming (Mac D) or using a service (Gold Gym, Be Blunt Hair) BUT PAYING THE STANDARD PRICE!!!

Gold Gym’s Franchises do well because their pricing is rigid and profitable!

So, how will an Event Agency keep terrific pricing?

Also, The Franchiser supports with branding, marketing, training etc

    What is that component here?

AT BEST it should be a revenue share, where YOU PUT EFFORT (think of it as a Franchise cost since you are marking them) and they give INSTANT SOLUTIONS.

  4. Thank you for your inputs Gaurav..

  5. Hi Alok,

The company is Partymanao.com and they do branding at National level and supply their own products. And they mentioned they are ONLY in India who has exclusive Authorized Disney licensee for party events.

But one point which Abhik Prasad mentioned is valid that “Let’s say you will earn Rs 5k from a party. That’s 65 parties just to recover your investment, so yes, do some more due diligence before you part with your money”

    Please advise.

    Regards,

    Mona

  6. They are in no way scam…and yes they are Authorized Disney licensee …and yes profit will be lesser as they will charge you for other things as well per event.. so its better to go your own way and if you think you don’t have enough experience/resources/knowledge ..you can gain some by working for short span with some agency/company/freelancer…

My 2 cents are that the only thing you are getting from them is party supplies/disney license & Leads which is valid only on party supplies…. them or anyone else doesn’t have any copyright to make any decorative stuff..

P.S. :- They are budget party planners.. so max that they charge go upto is 30-50 k including everything end to end except the food & Venue ofcourse ..and lowest is 10k so what you get will ofcourse range between 5-15..not sure how much they’ll charge you though…but the original game starts after 35+ for average Plus planners..

  7. hi..i am interested about the thing
