In October, 2013 (previous month), I started a new innings in my career, started my own company with a physical office in my place Visakhapatnam. I had given the office space owner the rent 1 month before starting the office so that I can buy furniture and conduct interviews. While doing this amazing job in my career, these are the few funny things that I encountered.
1. Animation? what is it? (Animation? kya hey?)
While searching for office spaces, I used to talk with the owners and everyone asked the question, “Bheta, what`s the business you are starting?” and I replied “Animation uncle/aunty ji. The immediate 2nd question is, what is Animation? , then I used to explain them what is animation. Then I used to face this annoying question.. “Why an office for drawings?”
Drawings? aree yaar, what the hell do u know about animation and its influence in the world? (I used to narrate this in my mind). Few are too cool that they asked me the below question…
2. oh.. you create cartoon network? (oh, thum cartoon network banaathe ho? )
Cartoon Network? we are not atleast at cartoon network`s footsteps.. All they know is cartoon network, cartoon network plays animation shows and we are cartoon network.. oh my gwad!!
3. bheta, when are the classes starting? (Bheta, classes khab start honge?)
After getting the office fixed and finished the furnishing of the office and all other things needed.. some of my aunts starting asking the question “Bheta, when are the classes starting?” I was like, classes? what classes? They thought that I have started an Institution of Animation.. felt annoyed again..
4. My son does animations very well.. you can hire him (mera bheta animation bhaut acha kartha hey, thum usey ley sakte ho)
One of my uncle said this, his son does animations very well.. all he did is some old school animations which were too awefulll .. grrrrr…..
5. and the famous, why to waste money starting a company? get a job in an MLC na?
yeah, ever startup founder faces this and you know what it feels like 😛
So this is what my journey as a startup is upto.. there were some funny and hard times, but forgetting the hard and elevating the funny is what our culture will be 🙂
