Hello Rodinhooders,
“The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket” – Will Rogers
“I simply don’t know where my money is going! I had just withdrawn Rs. 5k yesterday and today I am left with just 1k. Was I mobbed somewhere?”
“This month I’ll buy those 2 new John Player shirts. Anyways it’s been pending from last month.” (After you return from shopping you find yourself with 4 shirts cause some discount tempted you; frankly it also upset your budget)
“I wish I was a little more careful with my spending habits!” 😉
On seeing your credit card bill “What! Did I actually spend so much? When was that?”
So how many of us have been in such dilemmas or situations at some point or maybe more regularly in our life? So after being faced with similar and worse situations as above, GreynGreen was very much needed in my life. So, finally after a period of 1.5 months it feels so very nice to let you all know that my website on individual budget planning GreynGreen is live… It is a website that helps any individual user to plan & budget their finances for daily activities/ special occasions.
I had posted my first “Ask” way back in July
I had expected the site to be ready in 20 days as per the commitment of a developer. But, the story post that was very different! Uncertainty rules in start ups! And I am learning the lessons along the way..
Please check out the site here (Currently only household expense planner is made available)
How helpful have you found this site and what additional features you would like in this service?
Is the message clear or you see any ambiguity in the site?
Also, we are working on sending you a link daily, which upon clicking directly lands you to your planner page so you can update it easily.
(Mobile app should come next.)
I would love to hear your feedback, criticisms, comments and just anything you would like to say on seeing the website; you can simply write a mail to info@greyngreen.in
P.S. Since it’s the work of an amateur so please bear with it. Work always in progress to keep it at its best!
Thanks a ton for your time 🙂

Hi Sunaina,
Congratulations!
I vividly remember our conversation. I have few points to discuss and I still maintain my stand that you need to add value to the data, you are just getting the data filled, that I can do on my excel sheet too.
I can point out all the shortcomings, let me know if you are comfortable doing it here in comments or we can have a telephonic conversation.
Regards,

So, I can use the site to hire a personal budget planner?
Or is the site a self-service app? If it is the latter, the UI is disappointing. Your site needs to show what it does very clearly. Philosophical quotes and pics alone won’t help. Show me the dashboard; give me small examples etc …

Hi Aman,
Nice to get back in touch with you after a long time. I do remember a few points we had discussed on during our telecon then. Basically, it was in regard to adding value only for the user if I remember right.
Currently, this is the 1st stage- a user is simply maintaining record for every transaction done
In the 2nd stage, the following services will be added –
And, I remember we discussed about the mobile app for which the work is currently under progress. Any other thing please feel free to point it out.
Will definitely call you for more of your advice 🙂
Thank you.

Hi Nishant,
This site is a self-service app. Thanks for the idea; will surely include a demo of how the site works.
I am not sure though if you have signed up and checked out the Household Planner option under “Choose your Planner” tab.

You should take some cues from these guys –Mint

yes nishant, thanks for that; that’s where we keep referring to the most
just begun and eventually want to reach there…

Hi Sunaina,
Congratulations! I did sign up and looked around.  Currently, I do maintain all my finances in excel sheet stored in google drive. I do update my accounts using mobile as well. Using that context, the current household expense planner is not tempting enough for me to try the service. There has to be atleast one striking advantage for users to move out of their excel sheets to your website. This will help you gain early adopters, so that you’ll have it a bit easy to market your advanced features 🙂 Thank you.

Keep the faith Sunaina, you have something Good going, which can be made better no doubt, hope you achieve what you have the Vision for too!!!
Just Holler, in case you need any assistance, would be glad to do the same within my capacity at all times.
Cheers, Good Luck always!!!

Hey Sunaina,Â
My feedback would be 2 pronged – one is why a website? and second is about your website.
Why Website?
I know that today everything is on the web. People have gone far and even put their personal life on the web, let alone the feelings. Everything is on the WEB. But still, people do hesitate to put their money information on the web (this is as per my observations, no reports or anything). I am saying this because I have had ideas about this kind of website a long back and when I spoke to a good 15-20 people, none wanted to put their details on any website.
A mobile app or a desktop tool, which guarantees that it will NOT send any data to internet, would work the best in such cases. This is one aspect which I think you are working on.
Don’t worry, I am not saying the idea is bad. But what I am saying is that DO NOT OFFER just a simple excel file which can be accessed only on the web!!
Your website:
I saw the page and frankly was quite disappointed. I guess you released the website a little too early. There is only ‘Input’ page available and nothing else which actually ‘does’ anything. I feel the product shall not be released in parts; Nobody likes to eat half-cooked meat. Unless, you released a BETA version for the ‘Developers’ to test 😛 Hahha!
Also, as some other TRHer highlighted, there is no Value Add! I can record transaction in the Excel (by far the best tool for expense management), then why should I go to a webpage to record my transactions?
Other questions you should ask:
I tried to not sound discouraging, but if I do sound like that, please accept apologies in advance. My point is that this idea needs to be reviewed critically.Â
We can speak about these in detail too if you need to do that.

Mohit, it started out as a grand vision without proper planning. Yeah it was a very late realization that i should have worked on the whole model completely before getting it live and so efforts are now on in that direction. So the site has been temporarily shut and have started offline financial planning services while working on the online model simultaneously. And I can assure you once you see the site up again all your questions above will have been answered. Thanks a ton!
