Help! On the hunt for Entrepreneurs, Mentors & Experts working in low-income markets

I am writing to all of you as we are on a hunt. Our mission – To talk to the entrepreneurial ecosystem within a sample of Tier 2 cities in India (target cities mentioned below)

Why you may ask? Well…because we would like to talk to them about their challenges and problems in starting and scaling up their businesses so that we are able to come up with a solution that can help them.

Who are we? I work for Ennovent and our aim is to discover, start up, finance and scale innovations for sustainability within low-income markets. As part of the launch of our ‘start up’ vertical we are undertaking some research into the kinds of challenges entrepreneurs within these areas face on a daily basis, the solutions available for them and how organisations such as us may be able to help.

At Ennovent we believe that startups require more than financial resources to convert high-impact ideas into successful enterprises. In do so, one of the biggest barriers is access to timely, quality and tailored startup support in a flexible yet structured manner.

Our start up service is not aimed at being an incubator, what we are putting on offer is a capacity building program to ensure that your business can have a long-term sustainable impact within low-income markets.

What do we want? To enable us to build a program that truly has an impact, we want to talk to entrepreneurs and understand the real-life challenges they may face. We are especially interested to talk to the entrepreneurial ecosystem within the areas mentioned below and this can be entrepreneurs, mentors, incubators, experts – we would like to talk to all of them. We are not going to do any selling, just listening.

So, if you are an entrepreneur/mentor/expert working within the low-income market sector or know someone who is, please do get in touch with us on the below email or simply reply to this discussion.

Thanks!

Target Cities: Kolkata, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Patna, Ludhiana, Dhanbad, Kota, Guwahati & Chandigarh

  1. Hi Perzen,

I run few startups from Kota, the one http://www.hostelfinder.in which i presented with you in July open house 🙂

Well the biggest challenge is mindset of people for the word Startup..When i say i run a “STARTUP”, people says is this some kind of game, is it available on mobile too . I Say yes it is 🙂

Being a Tech Startup Founder, the second biggest problem is tech brain drain from Tier 2/3 cities to Metros because the  education system taught them Corporate Salary & Slavery is the last option after completion of UG/PG degree.

My Observation for the Kota :

Around 20 Engg Colleges But No Software Company. Candidates want to work in my company but i can’t accommodate more than 5/Year 🙁

No incubator, accelerator visit colleges to promote entrepreneurship neither college organized it  because their benchmark is based on the number of students placed in MNC Shits 🙁 every year

Soon i am  starting a ” Up Start Venture”  to provide basic information on what is Startup, Entrepreneurship & Small Business Opportunities

  2. Hi Vishal,

Thanks for your very useful insights into the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Kota. I completely agree that colleges need to also focus on ‘entrepreneurship’ as a career to really kickstart the eco-system in our Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
