Hiring for Start-ups made easy at Bangalore

We had missed posting about Headstart Higher on therodinhoods, which is start-up speed dating event that we do to help start-ups with hiring great talent. So here we are detailing how it went in order that every rodinhooder founder is aware and we would so love to have you the next time around. Start-ups have always expressed how difficult it is for them to hire people who are a deadly combination of passion and talent. Not to miss the fact that all of us want to hire people who give first priority to the kind of work they get to do, rather than thinking about salary all the time. Added to this, all of us do want to have the best of talents from the best of colleges across India and elsewhere, not to miss hiring experienced guys!

This is where Headstart Higher was a big-big hit when it came to us bringing extremely start-up centric guys, willing to join hands with entrepreneurs. To quote a few numbers, we had a total of 650 applications from candidates and it included people from every college you can possibly imagine. From IIT’s,NIT’s,BITS Pilani,IIIT’s,IIM’s,NID,Nanyang,ISB and other premiere institutes. Then, we had experienced people with as much as 15+ years of experience wanting to work with start-ups, and it included Yahoo,Cisco,IBM,NVIDIA,Target,Cognizant and an array of other big corporates that candidates wanted to shun for the fun of working with start-ups.

Here is what one of the 650 candidates who had applied had to say on why he wants to work with start-ups

“To work on amazing, cool, innovative projects which big organizations does not have courage to carry out”

From 650 candidates we shortlisted 130 to come down for the final event based on several different parameters we had to measure whether a candidate is suitable to work with start-ups. And eventually we had 70 candidates and 32 Start-ups participating in a one to one speed dating session on 26th April,2014 in.

After event feedback is what we look forward to, as it helps us to measure the impact we were able to create for start-ups and candidates alike. Going by the feedbacks that we received from start-ups, almost each one of them shortlisted 5 candidates on average to take the discussion forward, and we will be following up with them to have an idea of how many they actually end up hiring.

For candidates both in the technical and BD/Sales domain, they were overwhelmed to interact with 30 start-ups all at one go, and taking discussion forward with regards to working with many.

Overall, we did create an amazing amount of value both for start-ups and candidates alike, and we wish to have all the rodinhooders around when we are doing the next edition. Do keep following us for updates! 🙂
