– Making my life easy
– Doing things with a purpose
I spent some time on Google+ finally and the experience VIOLATED everything I respect about Google.

Is Google+ is a cheap xerox copy of facebook???!!!
I mean other than some ‘circle’ thingy , what else is this thing supposed to do for me?
In the event that Google forgot, I check Linkedin.com for my ‘associates’ circles; facebook for my ‘friends’ circle and my e-mail for my ‘business’ circle…also Twitter for my ‘follow’ circle…
In fact, it will be a CHORE to add an EXTRA network in my life after FB/Linkedin/Twitter to ALSO post stuff on G+….
So, WHAT is the REAL PLOT HERE?
Its the same agenda of Google – to Capture a new Continent for Advertising.
In the case of G+, I’m guessing its to capture advertising with personalization that Google has so far missed:
Spend a minute with me to examine the Google AD LANDSCAPE:
– On Google.com there is complete anonymity – once I hit search, the RHS (right hand side) ads show up with context to what I searched for but NOT based on WHO I AM!
– on Gmail.com (and here its important to note that Gmail WAS the 18th free e-mail in the world and YET google managed to capture us all) – the ads are still IMPERSONAL – they scrape the content of my mail messages – but NOT ‘who’ and to ‘whom’ i write to or receive mails from..
– Youtube is DISPLAY! but its still cursed with Anonymity and content that ranges from God to Porn.
– Admob ( on Android) is DISPLAY and TEXT and MOBILE – but yet Anonymous….
SO, we have:
Is the Google+ initiative PERSONALIZED ads focused and NOT CUSTOMER focused??
If you look at the case of Android – Google has built an amazing self improving OS that every phone company in the nether world is using – so apps WILL and ARE being built on Android and hence ADMOB – the SOLE beneficiary WINS… But if you have ever browsed the Android market place – do so with a Vomit bag coz the content (99%) is SHIT…
Clearly, Google doesn’t care about curating CONTENT like Apple does for iPhone or Hulu does for Video…
So, is google losing the plot in thinking about CONSUMER for the first time?
They have mastered platforms and technology solutions – but don’t they get it that I Aka Rodinhood will not embark on a senseless journey of replicating everything I do on my existing Social Networks JUST to PLEASE google and to generate Ads for them?!
I think its high time Google took the veil of its robotic, tech, wires meets servers meets bandwidth meets cookie meets platform meets auction face and MEETS CONSUMERS face to face and ask them:
MADAM – WHAT CAN I SERVE AND CREATE FOR YOU THAT YOU ALREADY DONT HAVE???
