Facebook marketing have books written on them. But I assure you that this article will make it simple – as simple and uncomplicated as it is.
My mom Mrs.Geeta Khanna, is a passionate artist who weaves magic with simple Threads, Needles and more.
With more than 30 years of learning (all by herself), experimenting and creating wonderful things from crochet, embroidery and UPin she excels in the art.
She began exploring internet around 2 years back and first learnt the basic search – Google images became her favorite destination for new designs on her art. She would copy these photos on her cell phone and try to remake the same.
Lot of Google search linked to Pinterest and she soon started exploring the same.
And then around 2 months back when she created her facebook profile. She started searching for pages on facebook on arts and crafts such as fevicryl hobby page, etc. Was surprised with the sheer number of people who would appreciate her art posted on these pages. This lead to an obvious next step to create her own page.
Dedication and Discipline:
She would post the photos of her craft on her page – minimum 1 daily.
Share and Link:
Would upload the same on other pages ( sharing link for promoting your page is not allowed on many fan pages).
People from these fan pages would then follow her to her page and slowly steadily the fan count started to increase.
To keep the momentum on ,Threads, Needles and more would like and share other fan pages as well . So it became a curated site for exploring and learning.
Ask:
The challenge now was to get fans to share and network. Nothing works better than “asking”. Talk to your fans and keep asking them to share – and soon the patience pays off.
This starts slow, but its all worth the efforts. You need to pick few active fans and start one-to-one communication with them. Facebook chat helps you here.
Once they start sharing their friends and family soon starts liking their post – pulling in more members to your site.
Wish them – Greet them:
Have a very personal approach to all friends and fans on your page. To an extent- my mom also happened to call and talk to few fans as well. They will love to connect with you and appreciate the gesture.
Help them:
People on your page will ask all kinds of queries – at times extremely basic. Help all of them. Reply to all of them. If you cant help – let them know. This is again difficult – but worth the effort.
There are few fans on her page who run their boutique and wanted to promote the same on her page. Allow them , help them – to help your page to grow.
Teach them:
She also started with posting some basic training videos with just threads and needles and a Selfie stick. You must check this out. Teaching Parsi Embriodery
Currently her page is less than 2 months and clocking 1000 likes in a week. Hoping to see this big!
She is also getting lot of orders for her art, but she does not want to pursue this for business – and continue to do this for the love for her art.
Like I said – Facebook marketing is simple!
