How do you advertise a newly launched E-commerce Store when you have so many well established players in the market spoiling your new presence with all the loss of VC funded money and other offerings like COD?
How do you make yourself felt in the market?
I know just keeping the prices Low isnt going to work .What should be a good marketing strategy with almost no budget for advertisement?
What are some easy ways to get yourself some attention..? Some good Attention I mean.

Dear Rachit,
When a brick and mortar store is formed, it is usually based on location and walk-ins. In an e-commerce site these criteria are absent. Hence the primary reason why people would visit your website is because your products are unique or almost impossible to get in the near vicinity.
Hence you are solving a problem of availability, convenience and travel by setting up an e-commerce website. Advertising your wares today have more free methods than paid.
Write-up about products, reviews and recommendations and to put them on a board – social media. An extensive use of social media helps both to sell as well as receive feedback.
VC funded companies are unable to stock all products if they do not make volume sense, hence the smaller the e-commerce website the better the possibility of stocking unique products.
Try and use your supplier’s online presence as well to market yourself across till you have a margin for advertising. Then you can contact me at pawan[at]digicat[dot]in LOL.

One of my friend said one of his friend’s experience when shopped in an online shopping website.
He got a call from the website asking few questions. They have noticed the billing address and shipping address are different. They called and confirmed that this is a gift and asked him ‘is there any special message to deliver along with gift?’.
Finally a gift with special message and gift wrapping. I don’t know how many ears got this incident through mouth.
Now you too got this info. but i didnt mention the name of the website as he is your competitor 🙂

What are you selling?
Is there any market segmentation?
Are you offering free shipping/COD as many are doing?
Are your prices among the lowest available online?
Is there any plus you can/do offer that can help you stand out?
