Hi Alok, and the Rodinhoods!!
I need some help in deciding on a brand/domain name for a new online service that I’m soon to launch. This is an online SaaS application, in the Education Sector, focusing on Vocational Skill Development within India. The main consumers of this service would be individuals who seek vocational training and subsequently employment; training companies who train these individuals; & employers who hire those trained candidates.
Now the problem with choosing a meaningful and simple name (2 syllable, easy to spell, pronounce, remember) and a matching .com domain name, is that it is very difficult to find one that’s not already taken. Most domain names are bought and/or parked.
What approach should I follow in deciding on a new name?
– Mix of English and Hindi words that convey the benefit of the service?
– Full English word that conveys the benefit of the service?
– Full Hindi word that conveys the benefit of the service?
– A coined word that does not have any meaning but is short and simple?
Any other schools of thought??
Thanking you’ll in anticipation!

Go for a Sanskrit Synonym. Short Simple and Easily Available in .com

Thanks Yatin!
Your explanation is very helpful. I think option #3 also makes most sense. I would prefer going with a domain name that is easy to relate to the benefit that my site is offering.
In the future, if and when cash flow increases I can consider doing a permanent redirect to a more brandable name or retain the existing name as it is. I would definitely go with a .com TLD.

In addition to what Yatin said:
1) Keep it to one or two syllables – makes it easy to remember.
2) Keep it under 15 characters – makes it easy to type.
3) Don’t lose too much sleep or time over it. Whatever you chose, you’ll see a more sexy option later. 🙂

I’ll second that Abhishek. Sanskrit names are a hidden gold mine nobody is exploiting.

Thanks Abey!
Based on the multiple inputs received from Yatin, you and others, I’ve narrowed down on some options with help from some other creative minds.
The logic of keeping it to 2 syllables, under 15 characters, exact keyword match, sensible suffix/prefix have helped me close in on what I think is best suited.
Thanks again for all the help 🙂

you can try to ensure that the name you decide you are able to pronounce it easily and there is a rhythm in it when spoken.it will then be remembered very easily by your viewers.
