How to meet a Company’s decision maker to sell my startup product

Hi Fellow Rodinhooders

My start-up company eWeHelp Technologies developed a web based product which is somewhat an online grocery store. Now instead of running that online store on our own, we would like to approach the decision makers of big companies like Reliance fresh, Easyday, Best Price or any other store to sell our product. Our target region is Jalandhar (Punjab). Since there is no one providing online grocery delivery service in Jalandhar region, we do see a good future for this product there. But managing the whole thing by ourselves is going to be a very complex process and will also need a lot of initial investment. So we thought of approaching Big Companies with the proposal of selling the same to them.

I would like to hear suggestion from you all on following things:

  1. Does our plan of approaching big companies appear feasible to you?
  2. What is the formal process that we must follow in order to approach them?
  3. How much can we quote them for our product + maintenance of the product (max amount) ?
  4. Any other idea that you can suggest us?

Thanks!

  1. awesome q anoop!

i shall look fwd to the suggestions!!

  2. Thanks Asha

Waiting for some awesome suggestions so that we can proceed further.

  3. Anoop — it might be easier for folks to provide suggestions if you probably share the link of your product.

  4. RATION DELIVERY – The product as listed on your Above mentioned link there does not any further available details to comment on though (Hopefully, this is also the nearest to the described below)

Which is somewhat an online grocery store. Now instead of running that online store on our own, we would like to approach the decision makers of big companies like Reliance fresh, Easyday, Best Price or any other store to sell our product.

The First Question that comes up is WHY did you go ahead to make a product without finding out the Demand Supply options ? And moreover Now that you have the Product ready, did you test it with Viable data as a pilot to validate the Somewhat resemblance in functionality as well too ?

And second do these companies (BIG) do not have any online presence already yet ? So why would they want something like this now ?

You have a few Questions already self answered maybe you just overlooked them.

Do you have Grocers online on your product listed or registered ?

Do you have Consumers listed to buy them as well on the Product ?

If this is not the stage yet then you should not limit yourself to just Jalandhar but add other cities, areas states or countries too and keep adding them later as well too.

Is there no other similar product addressing the pain point currently ? and what is your USP would give a lot of answers to you again.

Check with Tanutejas Saraswat on this post here for more understanding

    Indore’s First E-Grocery portal is live | http://www.ShopKirana.com

OR simply do a Search with the Keywords “online grocery” to find out more insights into these and more options as well too for your Product IDEA!!

Your Target is Jalandhar – So thats assuming from your own statement they do not have a Reliance Fresh or Easyday there yet ? And a Website is GLOBAL, though your Consumers / Customers could be limited to Jalandhar or the the area of Service for the same could be limited on the Site from your end to remove any confusion which could be a part of the GPS driven site tools in action, we have a few Experts on those as well too  but you did not ask for them yet so back to the questions that youave asked specifically.

Would suggest you go for a Survey (Online / Offline or both) in the local area to find all the details you wish to find out if this was actually a requirement, in the first place for the Target area of Jalandhar or other nearby serviceable places as well too.

TALK to Shop owners and Customers (randomly) to get a fair analysis of the requirement opportunity that you seem to have (if any). These would form a Good Data packet for analysis  of a lot of factors which would can be used to drive home the end results.

Do a SWOT analysis and then take feedbacks with suggestions to find out if you still Won’t QUIT Again on this one too !!! 🙂

I would like to hear suggestion from you all on following things:

    1. Does our plan of approaching big companies appear feasible to you? – Why not other companies like yourself to work on it together if that is possible as an alternative approach
    2. What is the formal process that we must follow in order to approach them? – Check their Websites, find out the email or office numbers for the departments to talk to, and get the local Distributors to connect the Dots with the Area specific Officers from the relevant / respective companies for that matter.
    3. How much can we quote them for our product + maintenance of the product (max amount) ? – No Comments Insufficient Data provided!!!
    4. Any other idea that you can suggest us? – The Next time start with a “Detailed Survey” to begin with !!

    Hope this Helps!! Cheers!!!

  5. Hi Rishi

    Thanks!

  6. Hi Darshan

Thanks for your detailed reply to my post. Here I would like to respond to some of your queries and doubts:

    1. The First Question that comes up is WHY did you go ahead to make a product without finding out the Demand Supply options ?

      • We do have the Demand and supply options with us. We did a complete research of the market in Jalandhar before proceeding with this product.

    2. And moreover Now that you have the Product ready, did you test it with Viable data as a pilot to validate the Somewhat resemblance in functionality as well too ?

      • The product is ready and we did some dummy tests to see if the product is functional. Then we had to put the site down as we were not able to manage things on our own due to our busy schedule.

    3. And second do these companies (BIG) do not have any online presence already yet ? So why would they want something like this now ?

      • They might be having in other cities but not at-least in Jalandhar.
      • We are just hoping that none of the tech entrepreneur reached out to them before us with such proposal. Or they might not have liked the proposal earlier but now it is the time of internet and smartphones. So we think this is the right time to approach them.

    4. Do you have Grocers online on your product listed or registered ?

      • We have listed a lot many items. A lot are still to be covered.

    5. Do you have Consumers listed to buy them as well on the Product ?

      • We have not made the site public yet. So we do not have real consumer base yet.

    6. If this is not the stage yet then you should not limit yourself to just Jalandhar but add other cities, areas states or countries too and keep adding them later as well too.

      • That could be a future plan but for the time being, we need to target only one particular area where we can at-least provide service.

    7. Is there no other similar product addressing the pain point currently ? and what is your USP would give a lot of answers to you again.

      • We couldn’t find any online grocery store that delivers in Jalandhar region. If there is any, it is not famous at all.

    8. Your Target is Jalandhar – So thats assuming from your own statement they do not have a Reliance Fresh or Easyday there yet ?

      • In Jalandhar we have Reliance Fresh, EasyDay, Best Price and a few more. But they do not have online store. All of them are operating offline. We just want to sell them an online platform.

    9. Do a SWOT analysis and then take feedbacks with suggestions to find out if you still Won’t QUIT Again on this one too !!! 🙂

      • 🙂 So you read my previous post as well. Nice to hear that. We will put all our efforts into this. If there arise a situation where we can not continue with this, we might need to let it go. I won’t use the word QUIT  this time 🙂

    Thanks for your precious time.
