How to use Influencer Marketing in India?

In this digital media age, Social media marketing is a buzz word that we hear quite often. In India, marketers understand & use it to mark their presence by simply creating their page on social media and spending money to promote through banner ads. Interestingly, there is another type of marketing on social media called Influencer Marketing which is an alternative to Google adwords, Facebook ads and Twitter’s sponsored posts. Although it is very popular in US but marketers in India are not aware of this form of promotion and very few understand how to use influencer marketing effectively to get the best results on the Social media platforms.

Even, Influencers in India are not aware that they can monetize their presence on social media by promoting brands on their social networks. Moreover, they do not know how to get advertisements from marketers to sustain themselves.

What is Influencer Marketing?

Influencer marketing is similar to word of mouth marketing by people / groups / brands / experts etc. who can influence others’ buying behavior. This influence typically stems from an individual’s expertise, popularity, or reputation. For e.g., celebrities are often used to market products because they are highly respected, visible and have huge reach that gives a higher exposure to the brands advertising through them.

In other words, one can define influencer marketing as a way of digital marketing wherein an advertiser utilizes people who have established credibility and audience on the social media platform to spread good word about the brand.

Who are Influencers?

Any person / blogger / page / group / expert who has a persuasive voice, authenticity, and have large number of followers on social media like facebook, twitter, youtube, instagram or blogs etc. is termed as an Influencer. He or she can be an ordinary person but with the right connections and social pull. Bloggers have also become important influencers because they are seen as experts in a certain niche and provide authentic information. When a blogger recommends a product it seems more trustworthy than traditional advertising.

How to find Influencers?

The most difficult job for an advertiser is to find those influencers, who can help him / her reach the right target audience on social media. They have to devote time and effort to search right influencers on different social networks to promote brands. However, there is only one online platform in India called, which has made it easier for advertisers to find Influencers from different niche based on target audience’s age group, country, industry etc. Advertisers can also post their requirements for free and get proposals from various influencers. On the other hand, influencers make money by utilizing their reach on social media.

Many companies are already using influencers as an effective medium to promote their brands and are reaching millions of social media users in very less time and cost. Therefore, next time you wish to promote your website / product etc, get better results from influencer marketing as compared to paid ads!
