It’s been two years of running my coaching class, teaching maths and science to students from school up to engineering.
Few of my observations/learning from this experience:
- Pedagogy and curriculum has remained more or less the same since I graduated in 2003.
- Advent to technology in education has (so far) helped in audio-video rendering of the staid text in the books. Beyond that very less has happened (especially in school teaching).
- Very few students take keen interest in studying – not more than 10% of any classroom.
- Of these 10% students’ majority are studying only for marks. Very few go beyond text books to explore more.
There is less motivation for students to explore beyond curriculum.
There is no way to identify and place on fast track , talented students and provide them with special platform to grow.
Entrepreneurs are trying to make as much change as possible to all points mentioned above.
Here I have my thoughts shared below and request for your feedback on the concept.
I want to provide platform to:
- motivate students to explore beyond school syllabus
- want to identify talented students and provide them with a platform to advance in the stream of liking (especially STEM – Science Technology Engineering and Maths)
How:
- Students and parents are motivated by:
- Contests and Competition that awards Scholarships and Certificates
- Advanced training courses
- Special experiences / opportunities:
i. be a part of IIT students project team
ii. Industry tie-ups-> Be part of gaming company project team ,etc
- Evaluation:
- Tech projects
- Paper writing
- Software contests and others
And all of this as much as possible by an online mode.
- Revenue model:
- Advertisement
- Scholarship be x% of advertisement revenue.
I have shared this as a very top level idea . I surely understand that this would require much depth before I looks like a business plan.
