Fun

Innovation? Look within :)

Wrote this one for one of the best important members in any startup: ‘The Office Boy’. Hope fellow entrepreneurs would connect after reading this post.

He greets you with his signature smile every morning when you see him.

He is always there, observing your every move and anticipating. Anticipating, where and how he can help you.

He is shy, shy to look into your eyes since he has immense respect for you.

He is always there for you, whether you need him or not!

For him the meaning of project delivery is the cleanliness drive during office celebrations when you enjoy your birthday parties to the fullest.

He has seen the team grow from size ’0′ to where it is today.

He is a problem solver at heart. He looks around, observes his surroundings and finds out something or the other which needs a solution. From fixing the door knob to fighting the rat menace to turning an electrician he knows it all.

Sometimes you envy him. Envy for good, since you can sense that he knows and wants to do a lot more than you.

This one is dedicated to him :)  Dear Padam – Iffort loves you! We value you and the contribution you are making to our lives every single day. Thank you for being with us ever since we began our journey.

Keep working, keep innovating since we know when you are there we don’t need to look elsewhere.

  1. thank you for this one daksh. i think all of us have a few special “office boys” etched in our memories forever.

your post reminded me of every special office boy i’ve worked with in baroda, pune, mumbai, hyd…. who has ensured i had two cups of coffee a day. who has told me he’s ordering a sandwich/a vada pav/a sev puri/mirchi bhajji for me every evening. who has folded thousands of press invites and patiently dispatched them before a press conference. and who has waited till late and shut shop (read ad agency) with me.

i recently met another “office boy” who has an amazing amount of positive energy. and a million dollar smile! i consider him my lucky charm and look fwd to meeting him again when i visit his office 🙂

    thank you once again!

  2. @Asha. Your experience is also a wonderful one. We are lucky and blessed to have such positive souls around us 🙂 Their commitment is a learning and inspiration for all of us.

  3. One guy whom I won’t call a office boy but rather a Man Friday in the small office of Edmonton Shopping Mall (Hotel Bristol, Gurgaon), is Sajjat Ali

From brewing fresh coffee/tea on demand, to ordering lunch on our behalf, to answering the phone and taking down the messages in our absence, to run around for delivering invoices and collecting cheques, to combing the newspapers for ads mentioning C2W, to…, he’s did it all with a humble smile.

I wish him loads of success as he moves ahead in life from being an office boy to a admin executive.

Sajjat is a living example that office boys need not be office boys for their life…only if one has a will to succeed.

  4. Waiting for my Padam, unfortunately have not had good luck here 🙁 Have been duped more than thrice by smarties whom I thought were my Padams 🙂

  5. So true….having worked with ICICI (in Mumbai then in Delhi) then with HDFC (in Delhi) and finally in our office (family business) I have found atleast one (or sometimes more) office boys who truly give more than they take and are the “Man Friday” of the office.
