Is India ready for an online education website (especially kids between 6-12 years of age)?

There haev been few websites existing in India which cater from grade VI to X, but is India ready for an educational website focusing on grade 1 to grade V?

  1. I think there is HUGE potential to create an EDU-GAMING site that makes kids of grades play education games.

The reason is that they anyways are playing Computer Games (so have access) and Games with some edu-tainment could be a big learning vehicle for them,

Finally, Parents and Kids bond very well using games where kids and parents have to interact with each other!

  2. As an example, take a look at these links:

  3. MMG, it depends on the product/services that you offer on your portal.

If it is targeting stand alone learners and parents it will be used as a reference, supplement or an additional learning tool..reaching this TA is an expensive and tedious proposition.

However, if you target Institutions i.e. schools and get them to include it as a tool to teach the existing curriculum.. it might work and you will get the numbers. The content has to be relevant, simple… to understand, use and teach with innovative tools to aid and encourage the teacher/institution to subscribe to the same.

As a stand alone user, students from grades 6-10 are net savvy and subscribe to and use the portals with ease if they find the content engaging and helpful…students of grade 1-4 (ages 6-10), though net savvy will be more likely to be inclined to learning through gaming formats than any other. Peer referral and media push (primarily TV) is what this age group follows and then the pull factor kicks in.
