Making Social Media work for SMEs and Startups

Even though social media was coined a common man’s medium when it came around, it is the big brands which seem to be hogging all the limelight, making SMEs and Startups wonder whether they can even make use of the medium amidst all the clutter. But for every organisation that wonders what to do on social media and how to make it work for them, there are examples of brands that have used this media and gained from it. Following are some examples of SMEs and Startups from India that have used social media for their organisations leading to surge in sales, increased footfall at their stores, hiring the right candidates, better visibility for their brands, global reach and more.

  6. Hi Prateek,

I just sent an enquiry on your website. I am Jatin and run a company http://www.pythagurus.com

I want to take it forward. I will call on the number you have posted on the website.

Looking forward to understanding what can we create with your competency. Thanks,  Jatin

  7. Wow..amazing..Prateek

This morning, I was thinking that social media is for the ‘big boys’ with huge budgets and smaller companies can’t match that. But your presentation opened new avenues for me. Actually, I am re-starting the social media marketing campaign for my organization and this comes at the right moment.

    Thanks a ton.

I have a question: in a SME / startup setting, who do you think are the key stakeholders who can make or break the entire campaign?

    Cheers,

    Aswin

  8. Hi Jatin,

Received your query, replied to the same, lets connect and see how we can help each other 🙂

Also, just wanted to shout to Asha and Alok, and say, wow, just look at what an amazing platform you’ve created! Not just do people get to exchange their knowledge and views, but it is an as important ground to generate leads too, so thank you! 🙂

  9. Superbb Aswin! That’s just the effect this presentation intended to have! 🙂 Best wishes with your social media initiatives!

As for your question, i think that varies from organisation to organisation. But I’ve personally felt that it is the founder, the employees, the friends and the clients who make your campaign. Strongest social media campaigns for startups are invariably lead by a ‘socially strong’ founder/employees. Friends help spreading word (not just adding likes on fb), and client testimonials help build credibility.

    Cheers!

    Prateek

  10. This is basic understanding for SMO (Social Media Optimization) best part comes in when you actually start to do it.

  11. That’s true Mansoor! 🙂
