What exactly do you do?
We train budding entrepreneurs – students, professionals and startups on subjects like business plan, finance, marketing and legal issues related to starting a venture. We have done 77 workshops across 25 cities attended by 1400 startups.
Why do you do what you do? Is it to make money, to become famous, to retire, to kill boredom, WHAT?
I met almost 1000 entrepreneurs in 3 years before starting (was handling Mumbai Angels group of angel investors) and got the desire to become a “Shahrukh Khan” after meeting so many Shahrukhs! Also, the bigger aim was to reduce the mortality rate of startups and ideas by giving them right information and knowledge.
Is there anything unique in what you do? And here ‘unique’ can mean anything – doing what’s been done for donkeys years and yet in a more cost efficient manner, or something new in a boring business or line or simply inventing something completely new?
We start every training program by asking audience what they want to know and deliver it by end of day, rather than giving any set MBA types gyaan! We invite real entrepreneurs and angels to come in as guests/experts.
What happens if this fails?
a. People will say that IIT+IIM degree does not guarantee success in entrepreneurship.
b. Somebody will get a Noble prize for research on “Entrepreneurs cannot be trained”.
c. Reporters will make breaking news – “Nature vs Nurture – Nature wins!”
What’s gets you most irritated? And what makes you most happy? (mention anything – private, personal, confidential, if you committed a murder and are felling guilty about it or just what you wanna)
What irritates me is when people ask me – “Who are the VCs coming for the event?”
What makes me happy is when someone writes a mail – “I used one of the PR presentations you shared and got covered by a journalist. Just wanted to say thanks”
What makes you tick? Why the hell are you doing this?
It gives me energy to see a room full of future entrepreneurs – and I hope one day one of them will be on the cover of TIME! I am doing this to enable 1000 ventures to start and 20000 jobs to get generated in 3-5 years. Besides, I don’t think if I can do anything else better.
