Mirror Monk was a middle-aged gentleman who had joined the Monastery a couple of years ago. This morning he shared his story with the Monks.
He said, “I came to the Monastery to sell mirrors and met Sensei.” Sensei asked me, “Why do you sell mirrors?” I replied, “So that I can see myself always. To understand who I am.”
Sensei said, “To understand who you are, you need to see ‘in-self’, not ‘your-self’. Destroy all your mirrors, and stare within.”
Mirror Monk did exactly that and never went back.
