Dear ‘5000-strong’ Rodinhooders,
By this time next month I will be launching the Pilot phase of my electronic buyback start-up which has been code named as, ‘Project Bazinga’. The pilot will be launched in Mumbai and further will move on to Pune, Bangalore, etc.
The start-up has four offerings those are online sales assistance, trade-in, recycling and pure buy-back; we are going to offer them in the respective order with a time interval of 3-6 months in between each of them. The start-up is bootstrapped and the order of the offerings have been hence decided as per the capital needs and further success achieved at each level.
Now here is our problem! We are stuck without a proper generic name for registration and all allied purposes. We brainstormed, asked friends, asked geeks and nerds and also tried the Sheldon Cooper and the Sherlock Holmes’ ways but everything that came out was either used, copy righted, IP Protected or had a ridiculously huge domain cost that ran into lakhs. Hence the final option that we have considered is crowd sourcing the naming process with a decent cash prize or gifts worth the same prize.
If you guys have 5-10 mins of your time than please head here. We have introduced what the start-up will do and also laid down certain rules for the naming and also given examples or certain local and national players in the same space.
One lucky winner whose suggestion gets picked up would receive either a cash prize of Rs. 1000/- or gifts worth the same.
Hope to see a lot of awesome name suggestions. Therodinhoods forum is where my dreams got wings and hopefully now it will give those dreams an awesome name too. Also if you guys have suggestion and queries or can help in any matter please feel free to ask or contact us.

Thanks a lot for your Support.

P.S: We know the website it bare basic but we are commerce students and currently the founding team has no developer hence we are learning to code on our own. The site is made on Google sites and only mapped to a custom domain, so nothing fancy there!

Hey Ankit,
Good to see you active over here..
will definitely think of a name…but what is wrong with Bazinga??
All the best for your venture!!
Cheers!
Tejas
Ankit Sawant
Hey Tejas,
The word Bazinga actually means ‘Fooled you’ as per urban dictionary and the context in which it’s being used by the fictional character Sheldon Cooper of The Big Bang Theory. Hence it can’t be used.
I have got some good one in the 10+ responses received but hoping to get more as well 🙂
Cheers!

Hi Tejas, Not sure if any of this would suite you. Still take a look at these names. I have all of them booked with me.
Ankit Sawant
Hey Vasudevan,
Thanks for the effort 😛 But most of the names doesn’t suit my business needs 🙂 You can suggest something related to electronic buyback.
Regards,
Ankit

I know, since I was in a hurry just copied all the domains I had. Why not straight away go for http://www.electrobuyback.com or
buyback.co.in
electrobuyback.in
Still working ….will come out with more…

This is a nice suggestion 🙂 Thanks for the effort. Please do suggest more as and when you come across 🙂

Hi Rahul,
Thank you for the link of your post, it was a worthy read. In the above post what I meant by generic was that it shouldn’t be around one particular device like mobile phones only as later it would result in a little narrow in true sense as we expand the operations.
Thanks for your advice 🙂

Ankit

http://www.webuyyourworry.com or
http://www.whyworry.com
http://www.wbyw.com (short form for we buy your worries)
most people are going to come to your site to sell stuff that they no longer use, dont want to use and want to get rid off . . .
they would be worried as to how to get rid off something they dont want anymore.
“” we buy your worry “” should stand for a forum where anyone can comfortably get rid off what they dont need and find value in that transaction at the same time.
🙂 fayzad
PS :: incase you like this idea, we could work further, I dont need the prize money, what i need is your value addition and ideas when I need them for my business . . .
All good wishes !!

Ankit I think what you are doing will be similar to what the “corner bhangaarwala ” does , yours is a online venture
So I think of a quirky name derived from our colloquial language which should be short and universally likeable to ..at leased hope so.
It’s : Kabaadi.com OR kabaadicomm.com
Ashwin C P
Ankit Sawant
Hey Ashwin,
Thanks for your inputs but I guess you got the concept wrong. What the kabaadi does is that they usual take the defunct and non-usable material for further resale whereas my start-up is concentrating initially on buybacks i.e. working condition goods which you usually traded-in while buying new goods, best example being a cell phone.
We inherently plan to add an recycling option as mentioned on the website but not initially. Electronic buy back is a huge and quite unorganized market in India and with no player with a successful pan India presence, yet. The oldest electronic buyback program for handheld devices is only a decade to 15 years old in USA.
Kabaadi.com will focus only on the recycling part of the business hence we need a more non-specific term or some unique word for the same. Appreciate your efforts on the same, if you visit https://www.projectbazinga.in/contest-alert then you might get a better idea about what we plan to do.

Ankit Sawant

Got it, in a way the same thing…for a American or chinees it doesn’t make diff…so as an Indian.. Btw if you select some name 1000/ are too meager for crowd source intellectual property:))
Ankit Sawant
Well it surely makes a difference to Indians especially when they are not able to get a good price or you make them a good price available 🙂
I know Rs. 1000/- is meager but I am still succeeding in getting names with that budget 😛 Also I am bootstrapping so I ain’t able to afford anything beyond this. My original target audience (based on my budget) for crowd sourcing was college students who come up with awesome names and based on my guide lines provided. And since today’s Facebook promotions (without expenditure) the response has doubled and I already have three names that I like but I am keeping the contest open till first week June. 🙂

Pai Suhas
Vtakecare.co.in…. as I feel there is an emotional connect with what the client wants to give away at a price… why people disassociate themselves with their units has various reasons & emotions… and with such a venture they will feel that their belonging is going in the safe custodians hands.. 😀
kinnari thacker dave

You can either Eat your Cake or HAVE it 😉

Choose ONE and get it to the Next Level, as they say (someone very Learned this one) What’s in a name !!!

Hi Ankit,
Interesting contest. I’ve submitted my entries on your contest page. Looking forward to your feedback.
Please specify if you need only a dot com, so that we can restrict our ideas/entries accordingly.
Also if you can give some credit or prize for a tag line, it would be great. I’ve given some indicative tag lines or few lines against the names, but once the name is chosen I can improvise on it.

Seems like I am going to go by impulse and give it some absurd name 😉
Ankit Sawant
Hey Indy,
Thank you for your suggestion 🙂 Will surely get back to you soon 🙂

Hey Sridhar,
I am currently looking the name with at least dot com, co.in and .in domains available for the same. Hope this helps.
