Ask For Help

Need Help… VC / IDEAS/buyers..ANYTHING

hi,

this is all about a very good idea gone wrong. and the worst thing is we don’t know where we are going wrong.

we have a food outlet in 3 food courts in Chennai  all are based in IT parks.

the concept is all about eggs. all food right from breakfast, lunch, dinner to revolve round egg.

the investment was 6lac. it went on well for a year. though we were able to make money to pay everyone  we still were not making enough for getting our own salaries more over the crowd in the IT park is very unpredictable  we don’t want to divert from the core concept but would need some help of the VC or anyone who can help.

the problem is a long one….so please feel free to call me at : 09986455991thanks

Thanks

soneeta

  1. ok think of this, i think you got your food courts in IT parks, which cost you more rent and more maintenance, it will be better if you can shift to near by shop where your customers can walk down, get food and go back to work.. this will help you to save some money, less rent, less maintenance etc etc

Here is the example. in hyderabad Hi-Tech city first building, there was this restaurent at ground floor with some good posh name, and the target is more than 1000 IT people who work in that building, its like they come down, they eat and they go up and do the work. the restaurent is quite decorated with good sofas, good lighting and AC’s as usual. but soon it started changing  names, like management people kept on changing and the name of the restaurent also changes. we went for once to taste the food, that time is quite 8 pm, and i hardly see 3-6 people having some food. the food quality is very bad and the food price is too high.

Quite opposite to this, Paradise Biryani Restaurent, KFC Chicken, Dominos, Main Land China. flooded with people every time. the reason is in Tech Parks, they charge more rent and people wont like to come down and eat and go back to work. people need some space, some air, some crowd, some sort of noise and out of all quite best taste food.

i hope i solved one of your problem.

    Thanks

  2. thanks…we thought about it. but the issue is our outlet is located in the 2nd phase and the 1st phase has a bigger and better food court with all big brands like KFC, Mcdonal, subway, pizza hut and also all other local brand. so almost everyone go there. and there is no space in the nearby area where u can have a standalone resturant. our concept is not a stand alone type. it is a fast food type- off the counter. and with just 30 mint of break not many IT people go out for food..specially in hot Chennai weather. so what to do?

  3. Well your business concept is already validated…..
Look at the success of Egg Factory in Bangalore – https://www.theeggfactory.in/
and similar restaurants in Baroda (Raju’s Omelette) – https://www.facebook.com/raju.omelette , Eggspectation (https://www.eggspectations.com/) in Vasant Vihar, New Delhi, and Yolkshire in Pune (https://yourstory.in/2011/06/yolkshire-pune-based-egg-speciality-restaurant/)

The idea is not bad. I think you have expanded faster than required. Start small, and improve as you go. I completely agree with Sai that you need to find a space outside the IT campuses, and make it the “Shop-next-door” where people can just hang out, grab a bite and go back.

Also, Egg is protein, and to balance the palette, you should have something nice to gulp it down with. A lot many people would not mind a fizzy combo which gives them a BURP. Something like a Cola or Lemon-Soda, or Nimbu Pani, or Fruit beer, with an Egg Kathi can work well.

Menu : I don’t think it should be elaborate. Work on your strong points. Start with few (1-2) items, master them, gain some traction, and then expand the menu. All famous restaurants are known for their specialty. Natraj in Chandni Chowk is known only for Dahi Bhallas, while he may be selling a lot many other things.

    I hope this helps

  4. Well, you got 2 options now

    1) minimize all expenses up to the best you can,

    2) as puneet agarwal suggested, create new menu, new taste, new customer experience like online booking, online bill, online customer support, its like suppose  on a specific day your food court is open or closed, intimate to your customers through email or sms. this really helps customers to better understand you. put up some deals on snapdeal, timesdeal where nearby new customers can come and taste your food.

we cant say that every new customer cant be our regular customer but being near to your customers always make sure that customers might come again and again.

to implement all you need is a computer with internet, customers database, account with way2sms and standard email. i think you got computer with internet so the next only task is put up a rough guest book where customer can provide his name, mobile number and email address  thats it

taste beats of all the things, so improve the taste, increase customer delight

    Thanks

    Sai
