Hello fellow Rodinhooders,
I’ve been following TRHS for quite some time now and it’s a great feeling being a part of such huge community with like minded people.
Coming to the point, We have started with an online portal called ‘I am at Colaba’ (https://www.facebook.com/iamatcolaba), a small effort on bringing the Colaba experience online. It’s actually a Facebook store and for now we deal in fashion accessories and artificial jewelry but we intend to add more categories soon (suggestions welcome). We started around a month back and have a decent fan following on the Facebook page with around 1200 fans. The response is nice, people do like our products but in the end what matters is the sales, which haven’t really picked up yet. We asked a couple of people and they told us that Facebook is a place where people come to socialize and not to shop. We use Sellmojo for our store and have loved the experience. For now we have bank transfer and COD (only for Mumbai) as the payment options, We’l be soon adding other payment options like debit/credit card payment.
A couple of questions.
1. Do we need a website or the Facebook store should do just fine?
2. The total no. of reach of our posts have reduced drastically. Earlier where it was more than 500, now its mere 200. How do we improve that, organically?
3. We are kind of stuck where we are right now and really need a mentor who could guide us with different ways possible for us.
4. Finally, we need investors, people who believe in our concept and our work. Point being, where can we find investors?
Any kind of suggestions/help would be really appreciated.
Thank you all.

I loved the accessories- great collection at great prices! But it’s kind of inconvenient to buy on fb. Mailing you for buying something is too much of an effort. Most people are lazy, and they just want to keep clicking… I think you should try to have your own website. Also, I can’t help wondering if people outside Bombay will be able to associate with the name. As for people in Bombay, they might as well go down to Colaba on the weekend. So, think about it. Great collection, though!

Hello Neharika, thank you for your reply.
About buying from our Facebook page, our customers have two options. They can either mail us or they can buy directly from our Facebook store which works exactly like a website.
The Name – We totally agree with you on the name part but consider this, for people in Mumbai (or anywhere else), the products these ecom giants offer online are easily available offline too but people buy online to save themselves that time and also as you mentioned, people are lazy, which works for us. For people outside Mumbai, it can work as another eCom company selling fashion accessories at cheap prices. 🙂

I would say test it with a FB store (as it is quick and cheap) and then if you have proven that people are willing to pay for your products you can invest money in a website.
Disclaimer: I have been associated with a company which makes FB stores.

Website is must, don’t just relay on Facebook. With website you will be able to market in different ways and you can create your own user base to whom you can market and reach directly.
2. The total no. of reach of our posts have reduced drastically. Earlier where it was more than 500, now its mere 200. How do we improve that, organically?
Kushank, content plays a big role in IT industry now a days, you have to have quality content for post to reach the mass. Google is very selective in ranking and spreading words, content QUALITY matters a lot now, try to scale up your content, I am sure you will gain more market for you.
For facebook post you have to create strategy. post should be engaging, that will help to get more no. of users for sure.

you are here talking about the fashion accessories , right… but what is your main target customer??
you said 500 is now 200 , right… it cannot happen as of a sudden , it has to do with customer satisfaction…
you still have your customer (some) with you , now go to them , ask them about their experience with your product and do accordingly…
in case of online buyout , people submit their email id , mail them a feedback form and some promotional offers (just for the ones who had already done shopping on your site , not the new one. as for new ones are concerned they will come but retaining existing ones is the key to growth).
try these , it will surely help you in some way…
thanks.

As a social media executive my personal suggestion would be , you should mix your posts . Elaborating my point :
There are 4 things on FB you share or update on your page images, video, text, link
So Images they gather more engagements , impression
Video they gather more clicks if good gathers reach
Text is the master of reach that means more the text more the reach
Link is something that is good for you, bad for reach associate it with 3 above decreases every thing so as a matter of fact as you dont have a website this can be your plus point you should work on mixing your posts in terms of images, video, text, link
as far your current activities you are more driven towards images and only images so please work on the above strategy and best of luck for future for any other social media & product dev help you can contact me
