India’s retail market cake has two cuts –
- E-Commerce : 10% growing upto 20% in the coming years
- Brick and Mortar Retail Stores: 90%
With high technology and smart solutions powering the E-Commerce piece, there is a void in efficient solutions for the problems faced in foot-fall shopping. Most of us, even many of the rest of us have experiences of walking into a store… And walking out empty handed.
Reasons being:
- Not found the right stuff
- Unable to fit your pocket
- Not aware of what’s in style
We just don’t know of what stores are around us. What they offer or sell.. And how well they serve their clients. In apparel – retail industry, client satisfaction is key. A client will not walk back into a store, if he/she is not happy with what they wear, how they look when they wear it and how they feel about themselves. So.. What if all your shopping questions are answered before you step out for shopping.

hi aishwarya,
how is oclor different from other shopping discovery platforms? (we have quite a few on trh as well – that’s why i’m asking :))
do you operate pan india?
i went through your video – there is a disturbing echo in the v/o which isn’t very clear.
also, i clicked your website link at least 6 times, but it failed to load (took too long to respond). is it working well at your end? perhaps there is a bandwidth issue at my end.

Hello Asha…
Oclor is a cloud based fashion discovery platform. We try to provide a simple structured information that makes it easy for users to find their brick and mortar shopping spots easily on the go.
As an early stage start up our USP is to identify your best interests and list the stores closest to you that might interest you.
We were under a scheduled maintenance with our website. You should be able to access it now.
And sorry for the video – we will work on it.
Best
Aish

hi aishwarya,
so the site is now working. it gives me only two city options chennai and hyderabad. i think you should mention this is your post as well.
do you have a twitter handle? pls add it at the end. will mention while tweeting your post 🙂

Hi Aishwarya,
I had a look at your website. Here are some of my suggestions:
1. The UI needs a major overhaul. Too many options and cluttered. A good UI must guide the user without telling what to do.
2. Site is too slow. It hangs and takes forever to load.
3. The comments scream they are fake. Sorry to say this. I understand it is important to seed the discussion forum when launching a new product but the lie must be convincing. Bad grammar, all good reviews, mostly by same profile names will not give the user the confidence to return to this website for more information.

I visited, I clicked, I forgot.
Question:
WHY are you relevant?
Give me 1 UNIQUE proposition you put forth for consumers that is MEANINGFUL and important?
Examples:
Dominos – First to ‘deliver’ pizza to Indian Homes
Flipkart – First Indian E-com
Indigo – 100th Airline to launch but FIRST to promise on-time performance and NO FRILLS costs
Ask Me – first to help with ‘search’
We can go on and on..
Hike on the other hand is a CHAT service that I don’t understand! They have NO MEANING to exist. If they close down, nothing will go wrong.
Are you a Hike or an Indigo and WHY

Hello Aishwarya,
I can give you few more thoughts to extend this, as this much is not enough for it to be in market.
Read about “Proximity Marketing” and “Beacons”, If the idea is original and if you want to really make this work(and not just sell it to someone), believe me you will need this two things. I have done good amount of research on this idea. I will be happy to share my research and thoughts.

Hello Alok,
To keep it short – Fashion discovery for brick and mortar retail is as yet an uncontested market space that does not have a pioneer yet.
We strive for building a strong product rather than being the first.
Thank you
Aish
