These days we seem to be plugged into everything. Hand-held devices to wifi platforms, everything is making it possible to stay connected everywhere we go. Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter and texting have become the preferred method for keeping in touch with people. There is no doubt that it can be very stimulating to feel so connected and yet it can hardly be denied that there is a feeling of underlying emptiness. Somewhere we have lost something.
The more plugged into things we get, the more disconnected from people and feelings we are.
Enter ‘The Indian Handwritten Letter Company‘ (Your personal letter writer). We believe in crafting high-quality, personal letters that makes all the difference to those who receive them and those who send them, as receiving a letter is much more personal than opening an email. Knowing that someone has taken the trouble to put pen to paper will make you feel that the person cares about you. So instead of dashing off a quick email or facebook message or tweet to congratulate your friend or relative, you could send them a handwritten note instead. We love the feeling of touch but barely have time, so we will help you make your feelings flow through the pen and ship it.

Major issues:
– I can’t ‘preview’ what the letter will look like – Nor can I see the paper, the envelop etc
– What do you mean ‘handwritten’? What is mechanised handwritten?
– How can I share an intimate letter with you? How will I know that my privacy will be maintained?
– Rs. 99 for what?
– How will you prevent Bomb Threats and Terrorists from using your service?
Ankit Anubhav
Hi Alok,
Thank you for writing in. Replies to your queries given below –
1) We are working on the preview, what envelopes you can choose and what paper your letter would go on, should be live in next 2 weeks. Currently we do a manual preview, where you submit the content and the same gets pushed to your email. Post you confirm the text, we write it and send you a picture of the same. If you are not happy, we re-write the same again.
2) Mechanised handwritten is where bots are fed with fonts and they write it for you. Ex – https://bond.co/. We at tihlc.com, believe in the art of writing letters by hand and not by bots (no matter how big the order is).
3) Its the same way you share messages on gifting websites or greeting cards, where we only act as the carrier, who implement the same on a pen and paper. For privacy we refresh our servers every 15 days and dont store any messages beyond that.
4) Rs 99/ for writing, sealing and shipping your letter across the world.
5) We read all letter requests and if there is anything suspicious, the concerned authorities would be informed immediately. This is part of our social responsibility more than a corporate policy.

hi ankit,
so i went through your site just a bit yday (i’m super intrigued by how this works and what kind of clientele you could possibly have)
i’m going through your site as we speak,
i think you need to have specimen of writing. it’s handwritten so what does the letter look like? seeing is believing. pls display some samples!
i’m not too sure whether folks would like to use your service for personal reasons. (i’m a writer with a crazy hand so the idea doesn’t appeal to me!)
but you could perhaps get in touch with wedding planners. perhaps for a wedding some special invitees could get handwritten invitations? your pitch has to be PERSONALISED/CUSTOMISED/UNIQUE
also e-com biggies seem to like to surprise folks with handwritten/snail mail letters. that could be worth tapping into. chk what paperting is doing –

people who get special awards should get handwritten notes….

hi ankit,
therodinhoods mumbai office (c2w) recd your personalised letter to me on my behalf.
they’ve scanned it and emailed it to me. many thanks – sweet gesture 🙂
would that be the kind of notes you would be sending out?
will share feedback once you let me know!!
Ankit Anubhav
Hi Asha,
Yes, we will be sharing the same kind of notes with customised graphics, handmade envelopes, priority post (if requested) and loads of love and care!

Hi Ankit,
I looked at your website and it looks gorgeous. Based on the feedback below, I am sure your letters are gorgeous too.
Brace yourself for the brickbats 🙂
Sending a handwritten message shows that you care for the person but do you know what brings the personal touch – THE PERSON! If I wanted to send a love letter, I don’t think my partner would care if it is poetic or written on an executive bond sheet. I may write like a chicken with a pen but ‘my writing’ would make a bigger impact than the best calligrapher in the world.
Not to belittle your idea but this is almost like getting an Archie’s card except it is handwritten.
Doug Conant, the former CEO of Campbell soups wrote over 30,000 thank you notes to his employees. As an employee, I would cherish a two line thank you note actually written by my CEO over a eloquent lines from someone else.
Also from a business perspective I doubt if this idea will find mass traction and scale well.
