Six Months back I noticed that I get a lot of messages on facebook and twitter for blood donation. But what i found was that most Donation requests were from random locations which meant that though well intentioned posting on facebook and twitter were not an optimal solution for anyone who is looking for donors.
What followed was an epic struggle with getting an app approved on iTunes.
My Thoughts were.
1. the app should be simple to use.
2. It should not collect any private details other than the Blood group and Last date of Donation.
3. a backend process handler which will be stable enough to handle and process upto a billion records.
4. The ability to locate uses (donors) who are in physical proximity of where the donation is required.
5. the person requesting the donation should be able to search for and trigger a notification without having to wait for message delivery.
The first version of the App was ready in mid June was rejected because apple wanted the app to confirm with their design standards.
a number of revisions were submitted which were rejected with similar reasons.
and then iOS7 was released. which promoted simplicity.
At this point i found a suitable domain name and completely redesigned the app to make it really simple. and Submited the app with a new name for approval and viola app approved in the first shot.
I have dedicated this App to the world. its available on iOS now and can be downloaded from https://bit.ly/17rPCCA .
the andoid version is https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pint4life.ios
