Bhaiyon aur Beheno,
In Bangalore, where I live, Raksha Bandhan isn’t a festival that’s celebrated with as much zest as it’s in central India, where I spent my formative years. There is no holiday in any office on this day. Last week while my wife was packing Rakhi’s, to be couriered to her brothers, my thoughts were revolving around that object – the Rakhi, how the amount of “resham” (silk) in it has diminished over the years, how much fun it used to be going to school with wrist full of Rakhis & how in college days we used to dread this day!
That the years of working in IT industry is doing “chemical locha” in my mind was apparent when I got a wacky idea. I wanted the Rakhi to go digital. Not like the Whatsapp emojees..virtual stuff, but the real Rakhi to go digital.
Below video shows this digital Rakhi concept I did that night. This was fun & the idea of posting here is share that fun. It’s related to the work I am doing – smartifying everyday objects, so a self plug (inbound marketing) is admittedly there. But then, I had fun making this, hope it tickles you too!
In the video, the iRakhi plays Rakhi songs when the brother touches his phone onto the iRakhi. Not just one song. The sister is changing the song that iRakhi plays, from another town, in real-time.
