Yesterday evening at around 730 I received a mail from Skoda informing I was the among the 112 people who got selected and out of which 110 would get the job. I had to pay a security deposit of nearly 8k towards travel (flight tickets) etc. There was a guy’s number and name too given.
I spoke to this guy this morning and asked about this and he asked me to deposit the amount asap and when I asked which branch is he from, he panicked and said he’ll handle my case at 2 PM.
Sensing fraud I went to the Skoda India website and found that the actual email was “recruitment@skoda-auto.co.in” and our man had emailed me from “recruitment@skoda-autos.in”
Rang him up and gave him a piece of my mind. His phone’s switched off ever since.
Here is the letter I got.

This is so well impersonated. I’m sure, many people would have got trapped in this.

I have seen a lot of candidates complaining on getting mails with reference of the website in the mail and mails mentioning job offers from very reputed names like BP,Castrol, Airbus etc. In some cases, some of these intelligent candidates paid lakhs of rupees to these fraudsters without even validating the credentials
All the job sites now have put in certain code of conduct and precautionary messages on the site to safeguard people from these scams but these guys find their own ways.
Interestingly, nobody thinks that how can one get shortlisted without even applying to a job. 🙂
