Sidelining toxic people while building your startup

Sharing my views on how one should stay away from Toxic people and the type of toxic people who affect in our journey. Do read and comment.

Even though Entrepreneurship sounds like a buzz word, a random walk into a business minefield could be always challenging. It takes pure determination and street smartness to overcome the route challenges. Starting out your business is the easiest thing, but sustaining the productivity and growth is a game changer. Serious entrepreneurs will always plan each step carefully ensuring the route, though challenging, they have an adequate resolution techniques to overcome it. Most of the businesses are most vulnerable to failure during the early years. Statistically, 20% of businesses fold within 1st year of their start. These are purely not numbers per say, but they hint a lot of truth which is unseen. These figures shouldn’t scare you off, but should they should prepare you for some of the challenges entrepreneurs face when starting a business. With hard work and an awareness of the issues, your new business can be a great success.

In my business career, I have met several business owners and one of the most important criteria they speak about (which I second as well), is the group of motivators that keep faith in your aspiration. Stay amongst the network of people, who have faith in you and your ideas. Not everyone finds the right kind of people, so the cue always points at the tackling problems.  Entrepreneurship is the one of the most challenging things to do and the truth is, few people won’t understand why you spend so much time nurturing it. It’s nearly impossible to convince them that to keep your destination route alive, you need to struggle hard. So how do you clear the air of negativity while starting up? Ignorance is pure bliss. Ignore the negative people and your productivity and intelligence will increase.

Remember, YOU are the only person who can bridge the level from What you are and what you want to be. 

One of the most “featured” toxic people are those who tell you that “you will fail”. Route of success comes through a few failure attempts. Like how winning is incomplete without the extra-miles you pump in during your training and exercises, there is no winning without few lessons of failures. Remember, YOU are the only person who can bridge the level from what you are and what you want to be. Flatly refuse such people in your physical or mental vicinity. Go back to focus on your business. Your greatest pleasure is in doing what other’s said you cannot do.

People who tell you to choose “One” amongst the options are another type of dangerous elements. When you step into the entrepreneur shoe, one thing is for sure, you will be tested hard. Research and planning are vital to ensure your idea is well-received in the market. All of these, need time and focus. But there’s never a single choice. It all depends on multiple ways to try and test your product, if failed. When you find someone indulging you into choosing matter between them and your business, unless it’s really ‘critical’ call, never set yourself off the target goal. Best way is to say “Thank you, but no thanks.” when  you meet them next.

Beware of those people, who tell you not to take risks just because you’ve failed in the past.

Every person has a fair share of bad memories which they wish never came their way. But this is sustainable than people reminding you about those memories and the ”mistakes you did” in your past. Just when you realize that you’ve started making progress in your entrepreneurship journey, suddenly comes a moment where someone close reminds you of goofed up moments in your life. Everyone fails, but what matters is how well you tweak yourself to handle the situation. Let it go. Forgive yourself for things you have done but learn your lessons and improve. Best way to handle this situation is to learn for the past. The future of your business lies in how you handle the past to live in present, for the growth of future. Beware of those people, who tell you not to take risks just because you’ve failed in the past.

Every successful entrepreneur has been an amateur first. It’s just that they have trusted themselves to go to the milestone-dream. When someone you know achieves something great, the feeling of “jealousy” comes naturally to most. Frankly, there’s nothing wrong in it. It’s just the perception how you tackle the thought. A mature person will feel excited about the achievement or treating such achievements possible if efforts are multiplied. Then there are those who will get away with reasons like “They got lucky” or explain people how “worthless” are the accomplishments. These are immature people and so are their thoughts. If something is important enough, even if you find the odds are against you, step out to still do it. But as a professional, you should always be mature enough even though some people try to belittle what you achieve. If you want to achieve great heights, start respecting other people’s accomplishment.

The start is always a hustle but the real shine is when people around you feel respected by you. 

You know your dream is real, when you can’t go a day without thinking about it. You know who you really are, and what it will take for you to reach your business goals. But the most important factor that can let you down in this race is “TOXIC YOU”. Beware of overconfidence and bad-attitude. Every time you climb the entrepreneurship ladder, make sure you develop a gratitude. It’s how you treat people around you, be it your team, people who support you or for that matter even your enemies, tells it all. The start is always a hustle but the real shine is when people around you feel respected by you. Surround yourself with people who will only make you better.

If at all you want to bring a change, what stands between you and the change is Your Approach. The pessimist complains about the wind and the optimist expects it to change. Instead, be a leader to adjust the sails.
