SiyaWoman Launches a Writing Competition With Exciting Prizes and Stellar judges

SiyaWoman.com is running a short story writing contest for its readers titled #AtypicalWomanWrites. The word limit for the entries is 700 words (~ 1 page in word), and the topics, as given below and on the site, are more fun than writing reports :-). The deadline for the entries to the competition is 14th March midnight.

All entries that pass the editorial criteria will be uploaded on the site.Top entries will have a customised illustration to go with it.

Prizes: The first prize winner of the competition will be rewarded with goods worth 50k, the second prize winner stands to win goods worth 40k and so on. Winners till the fifth position will win goods worth 10k. The winning prize goodies are sponsored by Pepperfry, Velvetcase.com and Buttercups.in.

The first 300 entries to the competition will win discount vouchers from Pepperfry, and all the entries will receive discount vouchers from Velvetcase.com.

A separate category of most popular articles with prizes from Pepperfry to commence post 14 March – look out for this space on the website.

Judges: Only three very discerning and influential women in the writing and editing space will judge this competition – Anita Bhogle (Partner & Learning content Head – Prosearch Consultants & bizPunditz), Karthika VK (Publisher & Chief Editor, HarperCollins Publishers India), Kaveree Bamzai(Editor at Large, India Today Group).

Topics: Choose one or more of the following topics/themes (All entries to be in English – A contestant can send entries on one or all of the themes listed below – one entry per theme):

  1. The Movie (Hindi/English) that changed your life, for better or for worse.
  2. The Indian Family: The good, the bad and the crazies.
  3. An Unexpected Journey
  4. Keep Calm and Shine Bright like a Diamond: A retelling of your moment of grace under pressure.
  5. Memoirs of a ___ (Pick any piece of furniture.)
  6. When your Chaddi is not your Buddy.

  2. Writing (style, grammar, etc.)
