Sometimes the Journey is the Destination #GoodLuck

I guess entrepreneurship is all about luck and chances! Every day you go out there working as hard as possible with a hope that luck is on your side that day!

Me and my partner in crime of two years, run an upcoming ice-cream brand. We have this ritual of going on once-a-year backpacking tours to some part of India where the motive of the entire trip is to travel as cheaply as possible and stock up on experiences. I remember this time last year when we were on our backpacking trip to Delhi and around. We had passed through Roorkee, Rishikesh and Haridwar and had been to Shimla.

Shimla was an experience alright. But that was not the icing on the cake, while in Shimla we were suggested that we go up to Kufri which was suppose to be a snow covered hill top. So next day morning we set out on our adventure of Kufri. The bus from Shimla to Kufri took us only to the base of the hill and one is suppose to take a cab to the top. Somewhere along the way the entrepreneur/fool in us kicked in and we decided that we would not take the cab and decided we would walk up the road. Along the way we caught up with some locals while having tea and in broken hindi we were told of this path that cuts across the hill which is used by only the locals and untouched.

My god was this path gorgeous! There was only one other person, a local, that we met on the entire climb. We were covered on either sides with untouched snow, ice and huge trees. We almost kicked ourselves for having thought of taking the cab up the hill. And then finally we reached the top after an hour of climbing and what we saw there made the journey so much more memorable. It was teeming with people and really dirty and grimy because of the people and the horses. We thanked our gods for the journey and embarked on the journey back down. This was one of those times where the journey was the destination. If not for good luck we wouldn’t have gotten off the bus, we wouldn’t have spoken to the local, and we would have never found “Kufri”! And my god was that bloody #GoodLuck!!!
