Teaching the Art of Negotiation via Games!

Hello Fellow Rodinhooders,

I am Amit, a dormant member of TRHS and a big fan of you all. I love quizzing and Games2win, one of the very few successful gaming companies in India, gave me the opportunity to make my passion my profession! We all love gaming, be it Subway Surfers or Candy Crush, it is one of the best entertainment methods smartphones have blessed us with. Gaming entertains us, refreshes us and allows us to do in the virtual world what we could only imagine and wish in our real lives. We also know that gamification is being used by corporates and educationalists worldwide and hence were happy to receive one such mail for one of our games.

Games2win was recently informed by School for Creative Startups that our game, ‘The Negotiator is now a part of their syllabus. The game has multiple choices that helps the decision making process and sharpens the presence of mind of the students.

We have more than 750 games on our online gaming sites Games2win.com and Gangofgamers.com. One of our online Flash games, The Negotiator, caught the eye of a social purpose business based in London called School for Creative Startups, set up by former Dragon’s Den panelist Doug Richard. The game basically teaches you the tough art of negotiation – the player is the negotiator and has to choose his options from the multiple-choices offered very carefully during the negotiation. The situations are a possible suicide by jumping off a building, a robber holding bank employees hostage, talking with a kidnapper long enough for the call to be traced amongst others.

School for Creative Startups became great fans of our game. They were keen to use to use the game as an educational tool to deliver their session on negotiation. However, they needed a new version of the game with a change which we quickly helped them with. They then used the game to conduct mock-negotiation sessions which was a part of their program. The game helped start-ups navigate the tricky first couple of years in business in a unique and innovative way as a part of their course and the school has expressed interest in partnering with us on gamifying some of their business IP. Doug wrote us a letter of appreciation too :

“At School for Creative Startups we deliver a practical year long programme aimed at Creative Startups, helping them navigate the tricky first couple of years in business. We’re always looking at new ways of developing our programme – using new and innovative ways of making our programme more effective, useful and engaging.

As part of the teaching we use a number of §tools and resources, one of which is the Games2Win produced ‘The Negotiator’ game. This multiple choice game, allows us to effectively engage the entire course of 100 startups with a group decision making game that compliments the session on ‘Negotiation’ delivered by the UK’s leading hostage negotiator.

Thanks to the team at ‘Games2Win’ – we were able to continue using the game as part of our programme. Plus, they were a pleasure to work with – so accommodating, fast and efficient when processing our request for an amend to one of their titles.” – Doug Richard, School for Startups

As a gaming pioneer, it gives us immense satisfaction when we see that games are not just a recreational tool but are used in ways more than one. What is mostly seen by others as a waste of time is actually providing more benefits than thought earlier. The line between learning while having fun is thinning by the day. And we, a company that has mastered the art of making casual games over the years, couldn’t agree more!
