A famous meteorologist was the guest this morning at the Monastery. Sensei introduced him and requested that he address the gathering and share what he had learnt over the years.
The meteorologist bowed to Sensei and said, “Clouds are nothing but reservoirs of tears. The tears of happiness and the tears of sorrow. Buddha never lets tears go to waste. When tears of sorrow increase, you have floods and storms. When tears of happiness increase, you have optimum harvests. Both tears are important, but one should never overwhelm the other.”
Sensei clapped once and added, “Be joyful and sorrowful in equal measures. And you will always enjoy terrific personal weather.”
