Roomys started as simple idea to help people find roommates/flatmates when i saw my friend’s younger sister facing difficulties in doing so. Our first official launch was at the Mumbai OH and it’s my privilege to be writing the first article about our new avatar here.Over this journey so far facing Uncertainties and Everyday Blues we have had some ecstatic, noisy moments and some quiet times with a lot of deliberation resisting the urge to market or declare our love for our startup from the rooftops. Most of the times, it has been the later.
We had always felt that house rentals were a natural augmentation to what we were doing and house rental search had not been solved so far. We want to solve it desperately and have thus come up with our new avatar.

Best Agents Curated by us and reviewed and rated by our users :
We work with the best agents in every area which is curated by us and moderated by the reviews and ratings of our users. Unlike a few portals which aim to create a world where agents will be eliminated, we believe that the best user experience can be created where agents are not eliminated but enabled using technology & trained in customer behavior. Also, the root cause is not that there are agents but that there are too many agents who are unregulated and are all looking to make a quick buck. If all agents can be brought on a common platform using technology and there are users who rate and review them, shortly the unprofessional ones will be driven out of business(how badly reviewed restaurants have a direct impact on their business). This will enable the best agents to survive and offer a superlative experience to the users.
Also, as the total number of agents come down, no. of deals/agent will go up and hence individual brokerage fee/transaction can come down. Btw, we have already managed to guarantee our users a 25% discount on the brokerage fee.
Everything that you need to set up your house while moving in :
We also have a new products and services marketplace which helps people to set up their house when they move in. From packers & movers to rental furniture , buying utensils, getting an internet connection, getting a cook, tiffin services etc. etc. we have everything covered.
None of the other products have thought about the rentals solution in such detail and expanse. Most of them are just lead generation platforms whereas we strive to complete the entire transaction for our user. We dont charge a listing/advertising fee from our agents but a small success fee when they close a transaction. Also, since the agents are not advertisers but stakeholders in the entire process, we can monitor strict quality.
A lot of thought process has gone into this and we believe that is the only way to solve the rentals problem. And as i end this, a humble message to my dear Rodinhooders – please do not listen to the experts from the sidelines, they will be there giving gyaan even after 2 years or more ( personal experience) and they are after all, not as intelligent as you may think.

A great idea man…I was thinking on similar lines…My plan included
1. little classifieds to buy-sell stuff apart from rentals…that way you can get stuff at cheaper prices
2. Apart from room searching, you should include room management (like expenses, turns etc,)
3. Ratings for everything…basically everything you deal with is local…(agents, landlords, nearby stores, room partners etc…)
4. contact information for all necessary amenities nearby along with the listing

How about adding the rooms and apartments that DONT discriminate people against their religion? (I assume you have read about the Mumbai incident)
Imagine a listing for them and the kind of PR and Goodwill you will get?

Hi Gunjan, Let me congratulate for this great start up. I have just visited roomys.in and really awesome. As per my opinion if you provide some discount coupons like Oyorooms, roomys will be tough competitor to oyorooms.
