The Opportunity of Gaming – Rodinhood at Kotak’s Global Investor Conference

A couple of weeks ago, Akhilesh Tilotia invited me to make a presentation at Kotak’s Global Investor Conference (organised by Kotak Institutional Equities).  They shot a video of the presentation which I’m sharing here. My presentation is followed by an awesome Q&A enabled by one of my favorite moderators and dear friend Suresh Venkat!!

I confess – this was one of the toughest PPTs I’ve ever made! I spent 10+ hours doing research and putting the content together. I hope it you find it interesting and useful. Do share your insights in the comments – it always helps!

  1. Alok Sir, Loved this Presentation. I aspire to be a storyteller like you.
Someone had said “Stories are Facts Wrapped in Emotion”

  2. Alok, your clarity on topics is just amazing. And the confidence with which you lay out your so called secret sauce (which many people tend to hide) shows its truly about the execution and not the idea. I remember asking how you knew US tweens would love your make up game and you simply said, girls will always play with dolls, its just they played with barbie, now they do it on virtual barbie.

  3. Just wow, you were just amazing!

When are you coming with an IPO man 😉 Sell Zee and buy G2W (investment call from an research analyst). On a serious note, just loved the way you you sold the story – simple and effective! Thanks for sharing

  4. Hi Alok, Your presentation is great! Learned a lot from it.

I have one question over here.

I own a gaming studio and we publish games in the Play Store and the App store.

Generally what I have found is, the ad revenue (in terms of CPI & eCPM) are on the lower end when ads are served in India. So one generally don’t make much money by making games specifically targeted to Indian users (I definitely understand the number of users are unmatched compared to other countries).

I think multiple games can do the trick (like you did with the cricket game). But still I am not sure what kind of revenue it would add upto.

If you can share some numbers in terms of revenue (if possible), that can give lot of insight.

    Thank you.

    Regards,

    Tejas

P.S.: We have got a game called Table Tennis  in Play Store with 1.5 million downloads. It has got roughly 30% Indian traffic. But in terms of revenue the Indian traffic gives pretty low revenue. So just wanted to understand your perspective.

  5. +1 Would it be possible to share the deck separately? 😉

  6. What a great video to watch! Alok, you have this super ability to weave stories and engross the audience! Many videos of yours I have watched many times simply to experience how you present!

Maybe a day will come with Alok Channel! 🙂
