The story of a start-up by three Idiots

I have been reading posts and discussions on TRHs from last 5–6 months. I always wanted to write about my start-up story but never got time to get started. Finally I somehow managed to have some time from my super busy schedule and wrote this up. 🙂

So it was the final year (2011) of my B.Tech in Lovely Professional University (L.P.U) Punjab. We all (me and my classmates) were tensed about our job placement as we knew that if we could not make into the first two or three placement drives in our campus then we are going to face tough times in the coming days. Having this thought in mind, we used to study aptitudes, solved R.S Aggarwal and many more online tests and sample interview questions.  I attended initial 2-3 placement drives (Accenture, Tavent Technologies, Headstrong, etc.) and was rejected. I started feeling like a failure. All my score (81% throughout B.Tech) appeared to be useless. One fine day, something stuck my mind that led me to think. Why should I prove my skills to some HR or Technical Interviewer of ABC company? I am capable of doing things on my own. But this was not a child’s play. I was not mature enough to take a decision at that point of time. So, I reached out to my other two Idiots (Abhey and Yojit).

Abhey is a Biotech Engineer from LPU and Yojit is an Electronic Engineer from CT Institutes Punjab. They were my only hope with whom I could have discussed my thoughts. We discussed things days and night. After some days of discussion, we came to a conclusion of forming a Company of our own. We wanted to create a company that will make Information and Technology easily accessible to the common man. We decided to name our company as – eWeHelp. e stands for electronic, We stands for Me, Abhey and Yojit. Help means we are here to help you. So in short eWeHelp (We are here to help you on all your electronic and IT related needs). After a week, I had to go for another interview held in our campus. This time I cleared all the rounds and got selected. Man… One side I have a company that is at its idea stage and on the other side I have a handsome salary job. I somehow had to take the decision of choosing the job that would pay me every month for sure. I am from a middle class family (from Kerala). So that decision was the need of the hour.

I worked 7 days and around 70 hours a week (5 days in my job and rest for my company). We are now a reputed company in north India especially Punjab region with a good clientele including onshore and offshore clients and turnover in Lakhs. We faced many ups and downs throughout our journey but the only thing that kept us motivated is the fact that we didn’t invested a single penny into our company from our pocket. We never took money from our parents. Whatever we invested, we earned it.

Now I am waiting for the big day when I have to switch as a full time employee of my own company eWeHelp Technologies. I really wanted to quote examples and elaborate all the ups and downs we faced throughout our journey but leaving it for some other day.

Any suggestion, feedback or similar experiences invited.

Thanks!
