While on your way back home on a crowded road, rain decidedly slows everyone down. People walk sheltered under their umbrellas, afraid to plod through the puddles, wary of the flecks of mud flying around. “Let us slow down now, and we’ll stay clean and warm.” The world loves the status quo.
Why slow down?
Because in our warm existence, the cold rain is a disturbance. Since it slows down the people around us, we believe that we’re supposed to slow down as well. Why push through the crowd? Why let our sleeves and trousers get wet? Why spoil our shoes with mud? Won’t it be better if tread slowly and cautiously with the rest of the world, being careful about the sudden stormy disturbance and lie low till it passes? So what if we reach home late? We’re not alone, are we?
Why stick your head out?
Well frankly, only if it motivates you. When the world slows down, you have the opportunity to find the right way out to make it home faster. You’re careful, not foolhardy as you seek out the rocks to step on in the puddles. You make mistakes, and the muddy water splashes around. But you don’t care, the warmth and the loving home beckons.
Matter of choice, of course.
Just like everything else in life. However, the best thing about mud is that it can be washed away. The best thing about wet clothes is that they can be left to dry. And you’re warmer and safer sooner than the rest of the world, if that matters to you.
