To young colts aspiring to be finest war horses

What I write here might seem very obvious to most of you but this note is based either on my personal experiences or by studying the behavior and mistakes of very close friends I have grown up with . This is meant for boys and girls in their late teens and early 20’s who are energetic confident and dream to conquer the world but end up making some mistakes that cause serious irreparable losses .

1) Taking inspiration from college dropouts: We all take inspiration from successful people and many of them are college dropouts. Dropping out of college and doing something big sounds very cool and exciting. What we tend to ignore is the fact that people like Bill Gates or whoever had already achieved a lot of success before they left formal education. Bill Gates coded an operating system at his own , imagine the amount of hard work that would have taken . They never dropped college just because of ‘ideas’ . The tendency to drop college can be a psychological trap to run away from hard work . Our own brain tries to fool us without us even realizing it .

2) Immature/outdated  ideas and unrealistic expectations: Doing hard work alone doesn’t  guarantee commercial success , whatever you decide to do must be in accordance with the aim that you have . Consider this I work extremely hard for 10 years and I make a light bulb(pila wala) and a black and white T.V . Sure I have gained a lot of knowledge but if my aim was to make a business out of it  will my hard work help me in any way ?? Here is a more relevant example -I have made a website where users can send messages to each-other and guess what they can also upload images !!! . Of course I have gained some programming knowledge but should I expect it to be the next big thing ??? So overall the point is the direction of hard work has to be right in order to make it fruitful.

3) Consultation and discussion with experienced people: Another problem with people like me when they are young is to think that they are wiser than Buddha and nobody has any say whatsoever in their life . But what I have realized now is that if our life span was say 5000 years then there would be enough time to understand everything by first hand experience and that is the best thing . But unfortunately it is not so , try to use the experience of others as much as possible.

4) A capable guide: Youthful energy and experienced direction can be a killer combination. Try to find someone who has experience in your area of interest. Remember how important Krishna was for Arjun’s victory . An experienced person can be very very helpful in channelizing your energy in the right direction and get best results in a short time.

5) Confidence vs  pseudo-confidence– Having confidence in yourself is good but there should be a solid basis for having confidence. If confidence is there without any preparation or because you don’t know the complexity of an issue then it is pseudo-confidence. It ‘feels’ very much like confidence but produces opposite results.

Hope this note from my diary be useful for someone in saving some precious time of his/er life  .
