Where will we be thirty years from now??

Met this client who is a die hard Indian but worked abroad all through…  He had worked in several countries including Dubai, Tanzania, S’pore, Brazil and Ivory Coast and was quite amused coming back to India. 

After squaring off our business he generally asked me my age and with some reluctance I told him “thirty one”!!

He started off by saying We have five layers of society…  First is the Ultra educated Professionals like doctors, lawyers  etc from top rung institutes..  Second is the MBAs, CAs who are the administrative level who run organisations and also run the first layer.  Third is the bureaucrats who run the first and second layer, fourth, our politicians, who run the top 3 layers and fifth, the underworld who run all 4!!  Interestingly education seems to be coming off as you keep coming to the lower layers and power is on the ascent!!

In this context he asked me where do i see the country 30 years from now.. Set me thinking and found that we have corruption that is deep rooted, and there is lack of political resolve to eradicate this..  to the contrary they are their only to further the (corruption) cause .. We have seen several scams….  Stock markets, Satyam, CWG, 2G,  Adarsh and counting.. There is nothing “ideal” about “Adarsh” (ideal) and  nothing “true” about “Satyam” but life goes on..

There was a report which suggested that if all the black money is brought to book we would be able to fund social security and health to everyone for the next 3 decades!! Thats a lot!!

While I still don’t have the answer as to where we will be I am very hopeful that perhaps all these scams will  detoxify of our system.  Hopefully we would be a much cleaner economy..
