  1. If you talk about security go for anything beyond WordPress. Both, Drupal and Joomla have fairly decent security. But if you ask me, I would recommend you to go for Drupal.(Even the White House is on Drupal)

Talking about speed, they all perform pretty much same..U can pick anyone.

Rest depends upon the kind of website you are looking for and time you want to put in !

  2. If you have some experience in web designing and you want to deal with less coding then go for Drupal.

If have less experience in maintaining websites then go for Joomla. And if you are a novice then go for WordPress.

Drupal: Drupal is believed to be speed, but it also having slow loading problem. You can overcome it by using cache.
If you have some knowledge in HTML then you will have more flexibility in developing & maintaining the site.

Without cache drupal will put more load on your DB. But it doesn’t have a native support for MVC and OOPs style coding. May be in next versions drupal may adopt it.

    Joomla:
Joomla is having a good admin UI. If you want to deal with less code then you can go for Joomla. You can use cache to speedup. It supports MVC by default and OOPs coding.

WordPress: If you enable cache then WordPress will be very speedy compared to Joomla and Drupal. But there are some security issues like Gaurav said, but you can overcome by following some standards.

For example the administrator username will be admin in most of the sites. You should change it to something else.Do not reveal you WP version,Use 755 for directories and 644 for files. Update your WP version and Plugins frequently when there is a new release. Use some security plugins like Exploit scanner, VIP Scanner.

Some of my clients googling and zero in for Drupal. But after few weeks they face problems in maintaining the site content. But if you spend sometime sure you can master Drupal.

I suggest my clients based on their knowledge and experience. I personally prefer frameworks-Zendframework for my own projects.

    Hope this helps.
